Baghdad Bombing Kills Soldier, Wounds Two, U.S. Military Says

<snip>

Dec. 23 (Bloomberg) -- One soldier from the U.S.-led force in Iraq was killed and two were injured in a bombing in western Baghdad today, the U.S. military said in an e-mailed statement.

The attack took place at 8 a.m. local time, the military said. No further details of the attack were given, and the nationality and name of the soldier killed weren't disclosed.

Insurgents across Iraq have targeted Iraqi and foreign security forces and civilians. Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said on Dec. 21 that he expects the violence to increase as the planned Jan. 30 legislative election approaches.

An attack two days ago on a military base in Mosul resulted in the deaths of 22 people, including 14 U.S. soldiers, four American civilians, three Iraqi military personnel and an unidentified person. The U.S. yesterday said that attack was probably a suicide bombing.

1. More Holiday horrors...
...for families back home.

A father, a mother, a wife, a child will be met at the door by a military man who will break their heart...:(

Merry Fucking Christmas...:grr:

2. Our kids are fighting to stay alive against an insurgency willing to die
to get us out of there. There is absolutely no way that you can defeat an enemy like that. Not unless you make the totally immoral and illegal decision to kill them all, because there is no way to tell the friendlies from the haters. And by now, almost all of them hate us. Future generations will sing songs about bush* and the boys all right. And not the kind that basket case Wolf delusionally pictured in his mind.

4. They may be saddened, but how many of them want to drive on
with the same insane policy? "Gotta see the mission to its completion!"

What lunacy.

as a result of bi-party "leadership."

I watched Godfather Part 1 the other night and had to wonder how many of our politicians are still in the pockets of an underworld entity.

10. Remember Vietnam?
I do. "We must not let 'aggression' (LBJ's favorite word to describe Vietnamese self-defense) be rewarded or our soldiers will have died in vain."

I began hearing that excuse in about 1967. Do the math on how long it served to justify further 'anti-aggression' operations (such as My Lai).
