Gunmen Kill 23 in Attack on Bus in HONDURAS
Link:

The 23 passengers were mostly people returning from work, and included four children. The gunmen left a message challenging the president and leading politicians who have been attacking organized crime. A wave of convicts sent back to Central America from the United States in the 90's have brought LA type gangs (currently estimated at 33,000 members) to the area.

I have not heard before of this type of attacks on the general population being used to intimidate the ruling government in the Honduras. I think the success of the violent attacks against Iraqi civilians (triggered by the United States invasion and attempted but unsuccessful "occupation" of Iraq ) designed to test and challenge local "government", are prompting copycat violence around the world.
PS> Having trouble getting the whole link entered. If someone can provide a better one, please do.

So first the US exposes Central American immigrants to poverty and gang violence - creating a criminal class; then the US ships these criminals back to Central America; then the US conducts a FUBAR occupation of Iraq, inspiring violent reactions which spread around the world. WHO SAYS THE US IS NO LONGER A WORLD POWER! The problem is the US is now an INTERNATIONAL FORCE FOR EVIL AND VIOLENCE!

1. LA Gangs Serve as a Surrogate 'School of the Americas'
for Central Americans. Gang violence is a booming US export.

I couldn't find the article at The New York Times. When I clicked the Google link for this subject at Newsday, I got the Rumsfeld in Iraq story.

3. President (of Honduras) targeted for assassination.
http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/americas/12/21/honduras.president.ap/
Dated Tuesday, 12/21/2004.

Drug traffickers and other criminals are trying to kill President Ricardo Maduro, his security minister said Tuesday.

"Our intelligence has detected preparations to carry out this assassination," ...

(Security Minister) Alvarez said organized criminals had been supporting Honduran youth gangs, known as Maras, increasing their ability to carry out such an attack.

"Our sources are totally credible," he said.

The minister's comments come a day after Maduro himself said he was increasing security because "we have information from a good source that someone would like to hurt me and my family."

Re Honduran bus:

"This is a threat not against me or (Security Minister) Oscar Alvarez or (Defense Minister) Federico Breve, but against all Hondurans," said
President Ricardo Maduro.

5. Agreed, Bush's Amerika is become a proselytizing hell--
a training center from which his minions, minor demons, are sent forth. I seriously think there is a supernatural element to Bush's ability to spread evil and corruption.

6. wasn't honduras part of the 'coalition of the bribed'?
because this might be retribution from the bushistas for them having morals and leaving when the new ambassador to iraq was put in, negroponte.

dunno, first thing i thought of when i read the title was "this was planned by bush and his friends." just seems too similar MO.
