Kerik to-do takes down ex-aide, too
John Picciano, Kerik's former chief of staff in city government, is leaving Giuliani Partners on the heels of Kerik's resignation, company officials said.

Picciano is "leaving on his own volition, and he leaves on good relations with us and we wish him the very best," said Giuliani Partners spokeswoman Sunny Mindel.

<snip>

Picciano was Kerik's aide when Kerik ran the Correction Department and later went with him to the Police Department. The two joined former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's consulting business in 2002.

Questions have arisen about Picciano's role in ordering four $50,000-apiece security doors for the NYPD that later were deemed too heavy for the floors.

3. So, It's NOT A Scandal, It's A "To-Do"????!!!
Gotta love the euphamisms when Repubs get into trouble...The press just bends over backwards to call it anything except a scandal...It's always a "to-do" a "flap" etc.

4. There were many articles describing it as a "Gaffe"
I firmly believe that if the two reporters at Newsday were not aggressively investigating and reporting on Kerik, the whole issue would have been buried by the press.

5. EXACTLY!! There was NOTHING in the local media for the first week

other than accolades from (mostly Democratic)pols to the tune of " what a great pick this is!" Newsday was the exception

And when are we gonna hear from our NY Senators... Clinton and Schumer? They thought he was the greatest thing since French Toast.

And while we're at it, how come we're not demanding more from our local NY Dem leaders in general???

8. Think, we almost had an associate to the mob in the HSD. Imagine
the terror then. Blackmail is a powerful weapon. I cannot imagine a worse scenario, barring putting OBL in charge. This good ol' boy stuff is getting way out of hand.

Bush makes me feel safer and safer everyday.

Imagine how thrilled Kerik was when he was notified of his appointment to head Homeland Security. A gift from hell. Boy, George can really pick'em. And what excellent staff he has, they must have gone over Kerik's qualifications with a fine-toothed comb!It sure gives one confidence in our fearless leader's judgement.
