China hit by Earthquakes
ONE person is dead, another missing, and 23 injured after a series of earthquakes in southwestern China's Yunnan province, state media and officials have reported.

A total of 47 tremors, some of them as powerful as 5.0 on the Richter scale, struck Yunnan over a 17-hour period on Sunday, the Beijing Times said. Incomplete statistics from rural Shuangbai county showed that one person had died, a Shuangbai official said.

3. bad week?
it's been a horrible year, and it's getting worse. Those poor people. Bush is ignotard, if I was president I'd sent half the military ships and c 130's to help, oh wait, we're fighting a STUPID "war" against "terrorists" in Iraq....

he's an ass.

20. Perhaps the Anti-Christ is about to be revealed
Actually, I don't believe in any of that nonsense. There are earthquakes everyday all over the world. I suspect that the media is now reporting stuff that they would not normally do because of the tsunami disaster that hit the nations bordering the Indian Ocean.

60. The US MSM is reporting alot of weird stuff lately
I'm thinking it's to make things look like biblical prophecies are "coming true"...things that would normally be ignored or scoffed at, like:
St Paul the baptist's cave "discovery' :eyes:
The tree under which Jesus turned water into wine (they found ancient jug shards in both) :eyes:
The locust incident
earthquakes
And somewhere they quoted a witness to this disaster as saying that the waves "looked like something out of the bible" (sorry, I don't have link)
I find this a bit unsettling....

61. biblical prediction is kind of like
there have been earthquakes before, so there might be earthquakes again
there have been locusts before, so there will probably be locusts again
there have been floods before, so there will likely be floods again

The Accuracy! The Prescience!

These happen all the time, just about anywhere near a plate boundary. Nothing to get worked up about.

and unless you are in a very old building that has not been retrofitted there is very little cause for concern in such an incident.

22. The quakes are a wee bit deeper than that.
And they're fully explainable by normal tectonics.

CATASTROPHES ARE NORMAL.

There have been eruptions all over the ring of fire in the past few years. Mt. St. Helens is scaring the pants off geologists. There's a lot of activity which is working its way to the surface. And subduction of continental plates is not always the smoothest, gentlest process.

I am fascinated by the tide of hate mongering in this
country. You are exemplifying the trend with your
posting.
Soon you will disappear from DU, but before you go,
tell me please what is going through your mind.
Did something bad happen to you in your life?
Did you graduate from high school?
What is your level of education?
What is your religious/spiritual background?
I am sincerely curious to know more about you.
Please tell me whatever you care to about the
way you see the world and why?

44. my two cents
People like this are in an arrested state of development. They gain pleasure at others' discomfort. They get pleasure from "getting a rise out of people." However, it is important to reveal these idiots for what they are..as BouncyBalls did! (Good job BB and mods!) These are the same people that touch the hot stove because they have to experience it for themselves because they lack the ability to ascertain knowledge from the learnings of others. They don't try to teach others, only annoy. Some say it is best to ignore them...I disagree. If you disregard a pain, it may be at your own peril. Sometimes, the zit has to be popped! :)

Does that help you with your psych profile of this idiot? :)

Just as we can look at our own "latest" (last 48 hours), the moderators can look at 'em for any member. Moderators have several capabilities that help them do the job - which is still tough enough as it is.
