Daley's son enters Army (Dem Chicago Mayor)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-041229daley,1,1946445.story?coll=chi-news-hed

In a ceremony that took only minutes, the son of Chicago's mayor today recited an oath of allegiance to officially become a member of the U.S. Army.

Dressed in jeans like the other seven young men and one woman standing alongside him, Patrick Daley, 29, raised his right hand during the swearing-in as his parents, two sisters and other family members looked on.

Patrick Daley was shielded from the press by his own request, a spokesman for the military said. Officials released a videotape of the swearing-in ceremony; the only other glimpse reporters had of the recruit was as he headed for a bus bound for O'Hare International Airport, where he was scheduled to depart for 9 weeks of basic training at Fort Benning, Ga.

2. If he's trying to start a political career, he probably could have saved
himself the trouble, since military experience is the exception rather than the rule these days in Washington.
