Canada increases tsunami aid to $40 million
CTV.ca News Staff

Canada is increasing the amount of money it is sending to the victims of the tsunami disaster in south Asia, and deploying a team to determine whether the military's crack response team will follow.

"Today we are announcing an increase in our financial contribution to $40 million to provide immediate emergency relief as the situation evolves," Graham told reporters, reading a statement from Prime Minister Paul Martin.

"This includes the $4 million in financial assistance already committed."

In addition, Graham said a planeload of emergency supplies is being flown to Indonesia and Canadian consular staff levels are being increased "where needed... for as long as necessary."

3. This is sort of like American citizens "giving" and private corporations
"profiting" from rebuilding ventures.

And talk about passing the buck. Don't worry that the U.S. government isn't giving much, the American citizens will send their money.

I wonder how much the people who paid big bucks for the king's inauguration will send to the earthquake victims?

2. $40 million for US inaugural.
At least. They said it could come to more than that.

Bush needs to PLEDGE that money to the relief effort. He CANNOT waste that money on himself in the face of this disaster. It's disgraceful.

4. Cannot?
You know better. You know the total cost will be more than $40 million, and you know Bush will be there rubbing elbows with his contributors, and smirking to beat the band.

For a moment, you must have thought he had a conscience.

MSM. They don't have a clue. And as much as MSM thrives on tragedy and disaster, it's taken them 3 or 4 days to schedule "something" sensational and pitiful in their prime time schedules. They've finally been shamed by their foreign news coverage.

Maybe one day it will hit home.
