Military and Congressional officials said the Pentagon was looking to trim up to $10 billion in the 2006 budget alone."

3. Hey, it was the Republicans that spearheaded the previous base cuts.

Cheney was one of the ring-leaders when poppy was in power.
And the Republicans were always cutting benefits like health care, closing VA hopsitals etc. They wanted more guns.
