Group plans to seek Nevada benefits for hosting Yucca Mountain
I know some of the people in this group...all of them are REPUKES!!!

Like they actually think that if they cut deals with the feds, the feds will keep their promises???

2:35 p.m. December 29, 2004

LAS VEGAS – A group of Nevada business, union and local officials plans to push the state to get economic benefits from the federal plan to store the nation's most radioactive waste at Yucca Mountain.

The 16-member group wants the state to negotiate for tax benefits, research grants, highway funding, educational opportunities or other federal benefits if the Energy Department stores 77,000 tons of spent nuclear fuel 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

"I think there was a definite time period when we shouldn't have been in those negotiations, but I think that time has passed," said Monte Miller, chief executive of KeyState Corporate Management in Las Vegas and a founder of the group calling itself "For A Better Nevada."

Gov. Kenny Guinn, state Attorney General Brian Sandoval and Nevada's congressional delegation are united against the planned repository. They say negotiating for benefits is not an option.

2. Sometimes I fear that our state's energies are so focused on preventing...
...the waste from coming to here that not enough attention is given to dealing with the inevitable: The waste will come here. We need to be given more funds if this is going to be placed on our soil instead of being recycled (like they do in Europe) or sealed on-site (like nuclear plants can already do).

3. I don't like the idea of on-site storage at nuclear plants.
Better to have one site, or recycle the stuff. As far as trusting the federal government to keep any promises, no I don't.

5. Uh, wait a minute here.
First of all, Nevada did NOT go to *. The state was stolen using numerous devious methods.

Next, I happen to live in Vegas. I hate it. I think this town is a cesspool. BUT, I know that there are many people here who do not deserve to be hurt by radioactivity. To wish that kind of fate on this city kinda makes you look more than just insensitive... don't you think?

7. Vegas is about the only blue in the state.
Good way to insure only red part survives.

8. Bwahahahahaha!
Now the Nevada Republicans find out just how valuable they are to Busholini and his corrupt cabal. You delivered your electoral votes to him twice, once after he swore up and down that he would never, ever site the federal nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain and then did site it there.

You're useless to him now. All his promises were empty, and you had ample evidence of that before you helped keep him in the White House for another four years. Now you want some kind of payoff? Allow me to repeat my subject line:

Bwahahahahahahaha!
