7. That was my first thought too
A reporter asked why Jeb was going and the spokesperson said it was because he had experience in disaster relief because he's the Gov. of Florida. :eyes: I wonder if the people of Florida think he's done a good job.

I can't even SAY IT!! (but get used to it. He will be our next President until they can get the Constitution changed to allow as many terms as a person can get themselves "elected.")

Or, until the 'Murkin Sheeple catch on and demand transparency and accountability for the voting machines.

12. Unfortunately, Jeb has developed some diaster relief
...experience and milked it for all its worth. This is in spite of the fact that he works hand in glove with the insurance companies that have been ripping off Floridians for decades. In fact, the generous Federal relief was meant to protect the public from the truth about the insurance industry in Florida and to pick up the tab for what they would not pay.

66. If you are not joking, please explain.
Since, as I recall, Bush did nothing more than stand on rubble with a fireman and a bullhorn. Not exactly superior leadership. And I will note one more time that Bill Clinton got to NYC from Australia before Bush did, despite the flight restrictions after 9/11. New Yorkers were not amused by Chickenshit Bush's delay in getting to NY.

15. I still like Powell
Jeb Bush 2008 would be pretty f'in scary, but I hope Powell is able to spur some action to help these people.

Frankly, if I EVER vote Republican again, they may have to run Powell. He seems to be the only R leader who has any morals. And the fact that he couldn't singlehandedly take down BushCo doesn't necessarily mean he's spineless.

No worries there, though, they'd never run Powell. He doesn't represent their "moral values."

Jeb Bush to head to Tsunami ravaged areas

The United States will send a delegation of experts, headed by his brother Jeb to tsunami-ravaged areas this weekend to assess the amount of additional aid the US will to send to assist with recovery, food, housing and reconstruction.

Tens of thousands have been killed after a wall of water pounded Indian Ocean nations over the weekend.

The delegation will be led by Secretary of State Colin Powell and Florida Governor Jeb Bush, according to White House spokesman Trent Duffy.

Duffy says the president chose his brother as a member of the delegation because of his experience with handling the aftermath of natural disasters.

54. Why are we paying for this?
I also heard about a Congressional group that is going to do the same thing. The money spent to send these people over there to "study" what aid to provide could be much better used directly on those in need. It is nothing but a PR stunt, which seems to be the sum and substance of what this administration does.

50. Oh puhleeze, that insufferable Henry Hyde
In a statement, Rep. Henry Hyde, an Illinois Republican, said he is drafting legislation to assist victims that he plans to introduce after the new Congress starts work Jan. 4.

“The challenges of coping with suffering on this magnitude are almost unfathomable, and we will act” said Hyde, who chairs the House International Relations Committee.

80. It should read
...Rep. Henry Hyde, an Illinois Republican who broke up a marriage....“The challenges of coping with suffering on this magnitude are almost unfathomable, and we will act” said Hyde, who chairs the House Extramarital Relations Committee.

If the author of this site is knowledgable... Anyone know if this guy is legit?

"There were also governments in the developing sector whose obedience to the Anglo-Saxon supermen was in doubt. The 250,000,000 Arabs, who were in turn the vanguard of a billion Moslems, would always be intractable. The out-of-area deployments doctrine of the Atlantic Alliance would now be the framework for the ritual immolation of the leading Arab state, which happened to be Iraq. Later, there would be time to crush and dismember India, Malaysia, Brazil, Indonesia and some others." emphasis mine

61. So where in the hell is Jeb's brother?
He is the alleged leader of the free world. He needs to go himself as well as pledge U.S. aid. Sounds like a gutless bastard to me.

65. This is morally wrong, all about their vanity.

I cannot tell you how enraged I was to hear about this. It's as though the administration's arrogance and selfishness know no bounds. The bodies haven't even been properly buried yet, sometimes not even recovered, and now there will be funds spent on getting Colikn Powell and Jeb Bush into an area that's more or less the pit of hell at this point.

I don't know if anyone else caught Kofi Annan's press conference today, but he made the point very gently but very firmly that his touring the area at this point would likely interfere with the aid efforts. Remember that they have to consider things like temporary housing, potable water, food, and bringing in medical personnel.

And the vicious right wing in the U.S. has been tearing Kofi Annan down, fairly salivating at the prospect of seeing him shoved out of his post, and today we have proof of who has the right priorities and who doesn't, at least concerning the tragedy in Asia.

Powell and Bush should NOT be going. If they want to help, they should be getting medical staff in there, arranging housing, setting up flights, coordinating things.

What's the prayer Father Mychal Judge said? "Lord, take me where You want me to go, let me meet who You want me to meet, tell me what You want me to say, and keep me out of Your way."

70. I have no problem with Powell going.
There are a lot of Americans still unaccounted for and it's a good gesture in a part of the world where the US desparately needs good press.

Now Jeb on the other hand.

He's probably going there to pick up some family business.

Quite frequently the Bush boys go along on these official missions and do the family bidding. It's galling that they are so out in the open and no one calls them on this crap.

72. It might have the opposite effect.
Unless Powell secretly got a medical degree or has a water treatment plant on his person, I'm not convinced that his going is going to have a positive impact.

The object now is to prevent more lives being lost, and that means getting the resources and workers to the right places. The tragedy is not about the U.S. getting good press; it's about the people involved. I don't want to see a parade of dignitaries from all the various nations who lost citizens. Recovery efforts must be the priority.

76. Why would it be appropriate to send a State Governor rather than
a Federal employee who would represent ALL the people in the country? Does that make sense, at all?

Good grief, someone tell these creeps that life concerns more than just their political plans. They should try to remember the job they are pretending to do. This is truly shabby.

mammary glands on a bull. Unless they are going to roll up their sleeves and do some hard work -- then they should be productive and stay home.

The money they will spend on the travel could have been used directly to help those stricken in this tragedy.
