GOP Radio Campaign Pushes for Washington Revote
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=511&e=1&u=/ap/20050105/ap_on_el_gu/washington_governor

By REBECCA COOK, Associated Press Writer

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Despite Republicans' demands for a new statewide vote and their new radio advertising campaign, the Democratic leaders who control the state Legislature say the governor's election is over.
...
"The people of this state clearly have lost confidence in the election process," Chandler said Tuesday. "The truth of the matter is, we don't know who won this election and we never will." He and Brown spoke at The Associated Press Legislative Preview on Tuesday.
....

Also Tuesday, radio stations began running ads paid for by the state Republican Party, declaring the governor's election a "certified mess" and urging people to petition the Legislature for a new election.

...

"The vote changed, I won, and now suddenly there's something wrong," Gregoire said Tuesday. "I won by 129. It's time for us to put it behind us and move on."

If any DNC operatives are reading this, shame on you for folding on the November 2nd election. Do you not yet understand that these people will stop at nothing? Why do you continue to play dead??

2. I'm Sick and Tired
of having a Democratic Party that has no Spine. If the rethugs are successful with this, there will be a rude awakening for all remaining Dems in this country.

If the DNC and elected Dems cant get their act together, then its time for a MAJOR PURGE.

3. G**D*** F***ING HYPOCRITES
Nothing at all wrong with the election when THEIR guy was ahead, nosiree! Not even when the margin was smaller than 129 votes.

And let's not even bring up Florida 2000, shall we?

ARRRRGH!

5. They HAVE to try something
Because they lost the popular vote once all legal ballots had been counted, the GOP is trying to rally support for a ridiculous "do over" vote for which there is no provision in law or precedent. So they have their minions in the electronic media braying about a "revote" and their operatives in the print media writing "serious" columns about staging the election again, and some feeble-minded people and sore losers are more than happy to endorse the notion.

Christine Gregoire won the election, fair and square. The people have spoken, and the next contest for the governorship of the state of Washington is set for 2008. See you then.

12. Well, if they DO set a precedent, as we saw in 2000
It will only be for them, and not in general.

6. How about a trade?
A WA governor's revote in exchange for a U.S. prez revote?

;-)

10. I was thinking along those lines
Hey Repubs. I thought you guys were all about stopping frivolous lawsuits. What's this? You want a revote in spite of the fact that this LEGAL recount will have to be challenged in court for months and possibly years??

Their hypocrisy reeks like burning tractor tires...

7. Where's the DNC & DLC's radio adds in Ohio?
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 10:24 AM by Sentinel Chicken
I'm beginning to think Nader is right about the Democratic party. They've sold out. If they don't stand and protest the Ohio vote then they're worthless and need to be replaced by a real liberal/progressive party.

8. Democrats need to counter these ads immediately.
Otherwise they will once again allow the republicans to define the situation in the minds of the public. Even if there is no new election the republicans will have harmed Gregoire's legitimacy which could really hurt democrats in the next election. If democrats wait to see whether the republican ads are doing any damage it will be too late to respond effectively.

Democrats need to point out that there is a clearly defined procedure in the law for challenging the election. They also should mock the republicans. I suggest something like this:
If the republicans had a valid complaint they should try to find someone who had gone to law school and was admited to practice law in the state of Washington so that they could follow the simple but correct procedure for challenging the results of an election. Assuming of course that the republicans could find a way to come up with the filing fee. Their failure to follow the simple but correct procedure for challenging the election results in court shows either that the republicans are too stupid and too poor to do so or that
THE REPUBLICANS ARE FUCKING LIARS TRYING TO DECEIVE THE PUBLIC.

14. Hey DNC
Replicate this in Ohio. If the whiney GOP babies are crying for a revote for Washington governer, then the more important job of president should warrant a revote in Ohio.

15. There will be a revote in Washington.
It will be November, 2008.

Until then Rossi can take his hypocrisy and threats elsewhere.
