Seminole Co (FL) Election Supervisor Resigns; Cites Health Reasons
From the AP Newswire:
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/florida/MGBJ4D1ZN3E.html

Seminole County elections supervisor Dennis Joyner has resigned unexpectedly, citing health reasons.

In a letter sent to Gov. Jeb Bush, Joyner, 56, described his condition as "acute" and noted that his doctors advised him to step down immediately.

It is not clear whether his condition stems from Joyner being a triple amputee. Joyner lost both legs and part of his left arm in 1969 during the Vietnam War.

After faxing his resignation to Bush on Thursday, Joyner met briefly with staff to tell them he was leaving effective Monday. Joyner has been out of the office since Nov. 12, the day final election results were certified.

The article mentions that Joyner oversaw the first year of early voting, but came under criticism for only opening one location, which lead to long lines.

1. So is the next step to get Republicans in every election supervisor
position? How could the man get by with only providing ONE PLACE TO VOTE in the entire county?

We've read about voting places suddenly being closed at the last moment, being switched to new locations at the last moment, and being wildly understaffed since the 2000 election.

It looks as if the Republicans can be trusted to continue on this path unless specific laws are written demanding adequate, accessible voting places everywhere, with open, transparent voting.

They WILL commit the crimes if it's humanly possible, you can believe it. They appear to intend to make this a one party country.

This demon Joyner was personally appointed by Bush. Imagine that!

2. Many counties only opened one polling place for EV
my county, Alachua was one of them.

I believe they were forced to open more locations in Duval County but that was after a lot of public outcry.

3. Unbelievable, DoYouEverWonder.....
If they're only going to have one open voting place, then they should allow it to remain open for a couple of weeks.

Expecting everyone in the county to get to one place and all vote in one day is dead wrong, if the facilities are so minimal that people must spend hours, or far longer, or even their whole day just trying to vote. If there must be one place, it should be large enough to handle EVERYONE, and have adequate staffing.

It's a slap in the face to everyone, but what isn't,now that Bush has crowned himself again.

4. Early Voting was opened for 2 weeks
not just one day.

former republic of the United States of America.

7. Joyner did his job. Even with just one election place open prior to
elections, he had plenty of booths set up in Republican precincts (which is just about the entire county) The only problems I heard came from Democratic leaning precincts, like Casselberry. They were finding it tough to vote. In my predominately Republican precinct, there were 14 booths. When you eliminated the number of people who voted prior to the election, it came out to about 128 people a booth. We were virtually done by noon.
