Italian train collision kills 18

Eighteen people are reported to have been killed and many others injured in a train crash near Bologna in Italy.

A regional express train crashed head-on into a freight train, derailing its engine as the goods train ploughed into passenger carriages.

Italian officials say the accident happened on a stretch of single-track near Bolognina di Crevalcore on Friday.

Around 200 rescue workers were quickly at the scene to rescue passengers and treat the injured.

They move at a good clip. They go a bit slower on the single tracks, but someone screwed up with the switching. Poor people...
