Lonely Boys drummer busted on pot charge |
|
San Antonio Express News compiled from wire reports 1/7/04:
<snip>
SAN ANGELO _ The drummer for Los Lonely Boys was arrested Thursday with his wife on a (sic) misdemeanor charges of possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.
Ringo Garza, 23, and his wife, Lenora Garza 24, were booked into Tom Green Couty Jail on $1,000 bond Thursday morning and were released shortly after, according to jail records.
The arrests were made after a search of the Garza's San Angelo home, prompted by a police report file a day earlier at Shannon Medical Center. Two women filed a report after a night of drinking at the Garzas' (sic) house Tuesday, according to a San Angelo Police Department report.
The west Texas band, which rocketed to fame with its smash hit "Heaven," is scheduled to perform during halftime of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome on Jan 15.

I have noticed some of my friends and family being busted lately for the "less than two ounces" charge which carries one year in jail and $2,500 fine.
I am sufficiently paraniod here in Texas that pot is especially on the radar of Texas Justice right now.
DUer's please keep the bud use secret to narcs and rip offs.

1. So, realistically, what's his penalty going to be? I'm curious... |

How about the penalty for a "normal" person. (edit) In the same jurisdiction?

2. I would think that it depends on whether he & she have any priors. |

My guess is that they'll pay a fine, no jail time, but you never know.

3. Will it affect his ability to travel, ie. pleading guilty with min. fine? |
|
That would be a biggie for me...

4. That sucks. Maybe now he'll be inspired to make good music. |

As opposed to what his current outfit passes off as listenable. And they're from Tejas, no less.

I don't know Tejas law, but I do know CA law, and if they're at all similar, the above indicates he must have been on either probation or parole for that search to have taken place.
