WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State-designate Condoleezza Rice has defended her integrity and honesty as she clashed with senators about the Bush administration's justification for the Iraq war and its exit strategy.

Testifying at her U.S. Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday, Rice was questioned about the number of U.S. troops sent to Iraq, the adequacy of Iraqi forces being trained to replace them and the failure to find weapons of mass destruction that were the Bush administration's central justification for the war. snip

In a heated exchange, California Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer argued that the Bush administration had shifted its justification for the war because it had failed to find stocks of biological and chemical weapons it had asserted were there.

"You sent them in there because of weapons of mass destruction. Later the mission changed when there
were none," Boxer told Rice. "Let's not rewrite history, it's too soon to do that."

Write the reporters (Arshad Mohammed and Saul Hudson) and ask that they change the story title (Rice defends her integrity).

In no way was Boxer challenging Rice's integrity (not that she has any), Boxer was challenging Rice's chain of flip-flops and lies that were used to justify invasion.

Your reporters and headline editor would be better to point out that Rice coould not answer Senator's line of questioning based on direct quotes from Rice and Bush, so she went into a defensive "poor me" mode and twisted the line of questions to an attack on her integrity.
