Houston (Texas) Education Miracle a fraud
my newspaper had the Texas Miracle on the front page.
It appears that a great deal of fraud went on it Houston,
counting kids who dropped out and cooking scores.

Fourteen of the sixteen schools in the district were
downgraded from best to worst. This is the district
that claimed zero drop outs and got a million dollar
award from an educational foundation.

Guess who ran the miracle? Our current Secretary of
Education, Ron Paige.

Here is the only link I have:

1. Actually, his name is Rod Paige.
Not Ron Paige.

But what's the difference?

2. Oops. Rod Paige. You think I would remember.
He was up here schlepping around not long ago.
The link is a pain in the butt.

I am having a time with this link. Even going
to the Houston papers doesn't help. Anchorage
carried it. Its a New York Times story but
THEY don't seem to have it. Unless I am not
getting lucky here.

The story talks about Sharpstown and said that
more than half of its 5500 students should have
been declared drop outs but weren't, among
other things.

SIGH.

3. I think you said the magic word, for a million dollars
He somehow got a million dollars for the district, by any means necessary. Anything for a buck. Do you get the feeling that Larry, Daryl and Daryl were running the show. You know the 3 characters from the Newhart show. The business they ran was called anything for a buck. Maybe he proved himself to be of the Bush caliber and won his spot in the administration.
