AP: Videos Show Guantanamo Prisoner Abuse
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Videotapes of riot squads subduing troublesome terror suspects at the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay show the guards punching some detainees, tying one to a gurney for questioning and forcing a dozen to strip from the waist down, according to a secret report. One squad was all-female, traumatizing some Muslim prisoners.

Investigators from U.S. Southern Command in Miami, which oversees the camp in Cuba, wrote the report that was obtained by The Associated Press after spending a little over a week in June reviewing 20 of some 500 hours of videotapes involving "Immediate Reaction Forces."

The camp's layout prevented videotaping in all the cells where the five-person teams — also known as "Immediate Response Forces" — operated, the report said.

1. Just a few bad apples, eh George?
Personally, I agree. But they're all in Washington.

13. but don't other prisons let you have lawyers?
don't other prisons generally tell you why you're there and when/if you'll get out?

doesn't that make it a bit different than other prisons?

19. we've let a lot out already. why haven't they killed more?
oh yeah, that's because our pals in the Northern Alliance sold us hundreds of senile men and mentally handicapped Afghans that they called Al-Qaeda.

You do know this, right?

24. I have indiscriminately decided you are the enemy and will subject you,...
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:43 PM by Just Me
,...to the same rules that you have decided apply to "enemies".

Sorry,...you have no rights whatsoever with respect to your innocence or guilt. It matters not that you were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

You will be subjected to the same torture that you advocated. After all, fair is fair,...what's good for the goose,...and all that. No protection against false persecution and no excuse for getting what you give.

THERE!!! A taste of your "rule of the jungle" hunger. Throw yourself right into that fire. I won't stop you. :eyes:

27. Behind the curtain is a torture machine intended to "produce" intelligence
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:52 PM by Just Me
I believe the overt prisons are simply a reflection of covert operations collecting people to psychologically and physically torture them into becoming our very own international "narcs", so to speak.

To bad this issue doesn't reach the American people and the SCOTUS.

It's an outrage. It's the most barbaric, predatory, violent side of humanity being exercised that,...I no longer have much empathy when all the "blowback" occurs.

Fucking gross, inhumane, totally fascist crap being spun by the neoCONspirators.

Too bad the evangelicals aren't fighting against these far more evil demons!!! They are missing out on a truly righteous mission.

9/11 = sickening
Saddam = sickening
What we do in Liberty's precious name in Iraq = sickening

Think outside the Fox.

23. yet why aren't you worked up about us killing a hundred thousand of 'em?
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:39 PM by thebigidea
can Saddam claim "collateral damage" too? He can say that he regrets the loss of life, and then its all better ala Rumsfeld.

Do you expect us to believe that you really care about people dying in the Iran/Iraq war? I bet you don't even know when that took place without hitting google.

10. so if we torture them here, how does that prevent "us" from being tortured
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:12 PM by thebigidea
I'm not following the logic here - you're saying that if we beat up, rape, and degrade a bunch of "unlawful combatants" in Cuba... we won't be tortured?

Explain that one.

How does it make us safer than NOT torturing, raping, degrading, etc.

How MUCH torture needs to take place? Only a certain amount, or a great deal of it?

If we torture more, does that make us safer?

IF we torture less, does that put our beloved soldiers in danger?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, how far do we stick the nightstick up some poor bastard's ass to secure our safety? Lives may be counting on those extra few inches.

15. would you like to be sodomized by a flashlight any night of the week, too?
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:26 PM by thebigidea
who knows, you could be into that sort of thing. but for the purposes of this hypothetical, imagine that it would hurt and humiliate you a great deal.

People were beaten to death. raped. molested. attacked by dogs.

yet you seem to think it were a matter of panties. oh, panties on the head! how delightful! how fun! ha ha ha!

How does raping a man with a flashlight save lives?

You do know that none of the torture cases involved people with, uh - actual information, right?

You did know that in many cases the people were perfectly innocent and released, yes?

22. so how far can you go, then?
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:51 PM by thebigidea
everything is on the table except the butt stuff, right? you're ok with siccing dogs on naked men?

that's ok?

you like the panties, that we've established. though why you'd want to spend a night naked, shivering, and chained to a bed with panties on your head is a question best left to you and the Significant Other. Make sure you have a good code word worked out and have at it!

EDIT: sadly, the world will never get an answer to these staggeringly unimportant questions, for our panty-loving friend is no more. Let this be a message to... us all. Godblessmerica.

6. I am so devastated that Gitmo even exists....
The fact that America has a prison beyond our borders, and we know very little about what is going on there--with prisoners who have no access to attorneys or due process--is just so AWFUL!!

World leaders have a duty and a responsibility to treat human beings with respect and dignity while preserving their rights. These prisoners have no rights.

IT'S SO DISGUSTING!!!

These people deserve attorneys. They deserve fair trials. They deserve basic human rights. Many have been imprisoned for three years without being charged with any crime.

This is so dangerous. The secretive, sequestered, inhumane and unconstitutional properties of Gitmo could lead to unspeakable crimes committed against these prisoners.

I can't think of any issue that upsets me more. This country should be screaming in opposition to this. It's so wrong.
