http://www.turkishpress.com/news.asp?ID=37426

BAGHDAD, Feb 16 (AFP) - Four US soldiers have died in Iraq since Tuesday, one of them killed in action and the other three in fatal accidents, the US military said Wednesday.

One soldier died and another was injured in a road accident in Diyala province, north of Baghdad, early Wednesday, it said in a statement. An Iraqi civilian was also killed and another two hurt in the same incident.

Another US soldier died of a "non-combat injury" on a military base, said another statement, providing no further details. A third soldier was killed and another wounded in a crash near the northern town of Balad.

Earlier, the military announced that a US soldier was killed in action on Tuesday in the volatile western province of Al-Anbar.

2. Must have been hit by the fireworks
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 04:33 PM by Halliburton
set off by the Iraqi people who are celebrating their freedom after 50 years of oppression under Saddam. The Iraqi's are too happy to be killing our troops. We gave them Democracy! They must have accidently hit the convoys! When you are celebrating as much as the Iraqi's, accidents happen!

3. "let freedom reign!" It seems that there are more "accidents"
after the purple finger deal instead of combat losses. We ought to be inching up toward 2000 by now.

4. How many "non-combat injury" deaths have there been in Iraq?
Sounds like suicide cover-ups to me.

6. I'm wondering the same thing.
Someone really should do some kind of study based on US troops and their fatalities.

For one, I don't trust the figures released by the Pentagon. I believe there are more fatalities. If a troop dies in a hospital in Germany, for example, it's not counted as a fatality.

Also, I don't believe the Pentagon is telling the truth about equipment failure, "accidents", roll-overs, helicopter crashes, and so on. I believe a lot of it is caused by the Iraqi insurgency, but they won't admit it.

And you're probably right about the suicides, too. I've read that many US troops injure themselves, in order to be sent home.

Just a bloody mess.

9. drowning
Ever notice how many drownings there are?
I'd loved to be told wrong. In the TV footage
of iraq I don't see that many rivers, etc.
Whats with all the vehicle accidents ending
in drownings. Sure seems strange if you ask me.

5. Ah, that should make his loved ones feel better.....
because it was an "accident." I'm sorry, if you're in a war zone, there are no accidents.

Bush/Cheney are the evil ones. All this blood on their hands. How do they live with themselves?

7. We're in a war? Do the conservatives know this?
They and their media outlets never mention it. The site I visit daily is www.icasualties.org
