Two students charged with having weapons, ammo at university
Feb 18, 2004

ESTERO, Fla. (AP) -- Two Florida Gulf Coast University students were arrested after campus police found a loaded handgun, a rifle and more than 500 rounds of ammunition in their car, officials said.

Jonathan T. Brady, 20, and Zachery E. Dueger, 19, were released from jail Thursday after their arrests by university police acting on a tip from another student, officials said.

They were charged Wednesday with possessing a weapon on school grounds and having an open alcohol container. Brady, the car's passenger, also was charged with grand theft larceny. University police said they also found a stolen Social Security card and two credit cards in Deuger's Toyota MR2.

Dueger, of Tampa, was released on his own recognizance from the Lee County jail on Thursday, authorities said. Brady, of Estero, was released on bond, a jail recording said early Friday. Information on their lawyers wasn't available.

1. Yes they were white
If they were Black or Brown, the bail would have been at least $100,000.00 Cash

2. Aren't carry/conceal laws in effect in FL?
I don't defend the stolen credit cards, etc, but I always thought you could own as many guns and ammo in the US as you wanted.

3. They were arrested on a College campus
weapons and ammo are banned on school campuses.

Besides the article does not state whether or not the weapons were 'concealed' or just in the car. For example, if you want to carry a gun in your car, you have to keep it in the glove compartment or a special gun bag or a place where you have to take it out of something before you can use it. If you leave the gun on the seat next to you or under your seat, then it is not 'concealed' because you can just grab it in one step and use it.
