Syria slams US, Israel
A SYRIAN government daily accused Washington and Israel today of leading a "campaign of intimidation" against Damascus and its backers in Beirut since the murder of former Lebanese premier Rafik Hariri.

"Ever since the assassination of Rafik Hariri, Israel and the US administration have launched a campaign of intimidation aimed at Syria and Lebanon, together with a stream of accusations which falsify reality and serve Israeli plans," said Tishrin.

Washington and Paris have called for an international investigation of Mr Hariri's killing in a massive bomb blast on February 14 that the opposition in Lebanon has blamed on Damascus and the Syrian-backed government in Beirut.

"The concepts have been distorted: in the eyes of Israel and the US administration, Syrian policy which rejects (Israeli) occupation (of Arab land) represents a terrorist policy," scoffed Tishrin.

1. yeah...
but the Syrian policy doesn't reject SYRIAN occupation of Arab land, huh?

On that issue, I think the rest of the world is right...get the hell out of Lebanon.

But, on the issue of using this as an opportunistic launchpad to attack Syria and prepare for war with them, I disagree. Hands of Syria..U.S. and Israel!

2. Hi-ho, Hi-ho, it's off to war we go...
Once again, the question "who benefits?" from Hariri's assasination becomes paramount. Does anyone really think Syria would attempt to commit suicide in such a manner? This is an easy pretext for the next step in ratcheting up the war of propoganda, soon to become sanctions and blockades, etc., against Syria.

3. That was my initial thought also. Isn't it outrageous to have to put
up with an administration that is immediately suspected everytime something "wicked this way comes"?
