Bush chided Harper on missile defence: CP report
OTTAWA — George W. Bush scolded Conservative Leader Stephen Harper for his silence on missile defence and asked him to help secure Canadian involvement in the U.S. plan, The Canadian Press has learned.

The U.S. president used his trip to Canada late last year to bluntly voice irritation with Harper's enigmatic position on missile defence, sources on both sides of the border say.

One U.S. official described Bush's reproach to Harper as: "Please don't play partisan politics with this.''

Recent polls have shown a majority of Canadians oppose Canada's participation in missile defence.

2. By help does Bush mean that as part of the missile defense plan
....the U.S. has Canada';s permission to intercept and detonate atomic missiles in flight over Canada, thus imitating nuclear EM bursts 250 miles above the airspace of major Canada population centers without consulting with Canada first? Gee, I don't know, our collective memories seem to have gotten a little rusty and clowdy. So,let's review some reports and articles on that:

3. "Please don't play partisan politics with this.'' ???????
bush can't REALLY believe that this is a cost effective program that will protect our country, can he?

It's all about those fat government contracts, who owes who, what, and who's GOING to owe who, what. Of course it's partisan politics, bush and the neo-cons are the only ones pushing this boondoggle.

And then he's got the brass to tell Harper, "please don't play partisan politics with this". :eyes: The hypocrisy never ends.

5. The greatest scam of all-time.
Wasting money on this worthless project detracts from national security, but fills the coffers of Bush-crony corporations.

Nothing but a massive scheme to redistribute wealth upwards.

The Russians already have missiles that would defeat it, even if it worked as currently planned (big "if").

Even if it worked against all missiles, a rogue state would drive a nuke in a boat right into Baltimore harbor and blow it up.

Right now the war profiteers are making out in Iraq, so Star Wars has become 2nd priority.

9. Harper's got to be loving this!
Just like Tony Blair was delighted when * started to "help" with his election campaign. Even people in Harper's own party will be cringing away at any suggestion that Harper caved or is actively abetting *. He's like the kiss of death!
