OTTAWA (CP) - Canada will contribute up to 30 soldiers to a NATO-led force that will help train the new Iraqi army, senior federal officials confirmed Friday.

The formal announcement will be made when Prime Minister Paul Martin gathers with other leaders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization meeting Tuesday in Brussels.

1. I hope we don't
accidental drop another bomb on them. If we did then I think Canada should start taking it personally.

8. BBC- US bomb kills allies in Afghanistan
Thursday, 18 April, 2002

A US fighter plane in Afghanistan has accidentally bombed a group of Canadian troops, killing four soldiers and injuring eight others.
The incident, which occurred during a routine training exercise, happened near the southern city of Kandahar, 14 kilometres (eight miles) from the airport.

US officials said initial reports suggested that the pilot of at least one of a group of F-16 fighter planes had mistaken a live-fire exercise for hostile fire.

5. Bare minimum
nod to NATO..and done from Jordan.

No, Bush didn't get very far in Canada.

Bush scolded our Opposition leader, Harper, too, and told him to come through for him on missile defence. Tends to make people testy.

So I guess that 30 will train Iraqi forces from Jordan and some will help reconstruction in southern Iraq.

9. In reality, bush received nothing of substance from Canada

re Iraq. As to the reconstruction team for Afghanistan, it is through NATO not bush. One day, bush might understand bullying and threatening doesn't work, ummm, no, I don't think he will EVER learn, sadly.
