Rice to visit Saudi next week: foreign ministry source

RIYADH (AFP) - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Saudi Arabia next week on her first trip to the oil-rich kingdom since she became US chief diplomat, a Saudi foreign ministry source said.

Rice will arrive in Riyadh on Friday evening, March 4, and leave the following day after talks with King Fahd, Crown Prince and de facto ruler Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal, the source told AFP, requesting anonymity.

Talks during the visit, the first by Rice since President George W. Bush's former national security adviser became secretary of state earlier this year, will focus on bilateral ties and regional issues.

Rice's trip will come one day after Saudi men go to the polls in the oil-rich Eastern Province and southwestern regions in the second round of unprecedented three-stage elections for half the members of 178 municipal councils across the kingdom.

Will she wear a head-covering? Will she wear a skirt? High heels? Will they even release photos? Are there any photos of members of the Saud Family with Madeline Albright?

Yes ...
