Corzine strategy: Shed the money baggage
Philadelphia Inquirer
Source: http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/11009471.htm?1c

Jon Corzine, the populist candidate for governor?

It will be a hard sell. But the New Jersey Democrat is trying to shake his image as the retired Wall Street tycoon who buys elections.

That image nearly cost Corzine the U.S. Senate election in 2000, when his personal fortune bankrolled his run and large segments of his party but triggered a late voter backlash. And the Corzine campaign worries that it could be a major liability in this year's race for governor.

The smaller contributions he is seeking this year are one component of a fund-raising operation intended to insulate Corzine from the contention that he is buying the governorship. At the same time, it will raise millions of dollars for him and his party for local, county and state elections.

1. who cares if he bank rolled himself?
He is a great senator. All he has to do is bring up the corporations who are bankrolling his opponent.

3. What it comes down to - if he has the support, he'll get
the small donations.

I must admit though, all I know about him is that he is rich, lol, but, I'm not from NJ...

5. Aren't Bush*, Cheney and a host of Republicans also rich?
How come it's a negative if a Democrat is rich?

7. The MSM will try to show any Democrat in a negative light
Compare the MSM treatment of Clinton/Monica Lewinsky to the MSM treatment of the Bush WH's gay hooker Jeff Gannon, with his two years worth of day "press" passes. The fix is in.
