Reputed Klansman Injured in Logging Mishap
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Edgar Ray Killen, the reputed Klansman accused of killing three civil rights workers in 1964, broke both legs in a logging accident Thursday, his attorney said.

A tree fell on the 80-year-old former lumber mill operator from Union, knocking him out and shattering both his femurs, lawyer Mitch Moran said.

Moran said Killen would be moved by Friday to University Medical Center in Jackson after being treated Thursday night at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, in east-central Mississippi.

(snip)

The accident happened when a tree Killen had cut fell onto another one, Moran said. As Killen cut the supporting tree, the top tree fell onto his head and drove him into the ground. People nearby called for help.

``It kind of drove him in the ground like a pile driver,'' Moran said.

3. "the top tree fell onto his head and drove him into the ground...
... like a pile driver"

Was he working as an extra in a Warner Bros. cartoon at the time?

5. Makes it sound like a ball cap with little feet was all that was left.
You know, normally I'm quite compassionate. If I'd been in a position to push the tree onto this guy, I wouldn't have, no matter how much I think he sucks. (And suck he does.) But I still can't help but... well, not cry about his pile-driver mishap.

4. This is really bizarre...The old fuck lives about 25 miles from me
and the first news I have of his injury is from the UK Guardian? That's really bizarre. I'm listening to the local TV news and there's no mention at all. Bizarre.

Nothing to upset you, dear, and throw you off course.

Now, watch the medical news like a good boy.

Edited to add:

All the murdering, racist pukes left, your day will come as well.

18. I hope that Tecumseh has his say in Karma, too.
...at least for US Presidents elected in years ending in 0. I'm not sure that the Tecumseh curse specifies "elected" or "by whom" although it pretty much implies that the US President or Chief is not chosen by Native Americans. And that begs the question of who is the real Chief here? I can't say, but boy George has never taken responsibility for anything but lies about false achievements and "double speak."

The curse was supposedly broken by Reagan. He got off with a mental disease and didn't die while in office. His Karma quotient was either reduced or increased, depending on how you would like to live out your last days.

I have probably reduced my own Karma quotient with this post, but I hope that it will enlighten all that read it as well as those that are allegedly cursed by Tecumseh.

For the Record

Since Tecumseh's prophetic curse, here are the Presidents every 20 years and the Vice-presidents who inherited the Presidency:

1. 1840, William Henry Harrison
Died April 6, 1841 of pneumonia.
Vice President John Tyler

2. 1860, Abraham Lincoln
Assassinated April 14, 1865
Succeeded by Vice President Andrew Johnson

3. 1880, James Abram Garfield
Assassinated July 2, 1881
Succeeded by Vice President Chester Alan Arthur

4. 1900, William McKinley
Assassinated September, 6 1901
Succeeded by Vice President Theodore Roosevelt

5. 1920, Warren Gamaliel Harding
Died August 2, 1923 from food poisoning
Succeeded by Vice President Calvin Coolidge

6. 1940, Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Died April 12, 1945, stroke, medical records missing
Succeeded by Vice President Harry Truman

7. 1960, John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Assassinated November 22, 1963
Succeeded by Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson

8. 1980, Ronald Wilson Reagan
Assassination attempt on March 30, 1981
Succeeded by his Vice President George Bush by election.

9. George W. Bush?

That's the only way racism is going to be eradicated in this country: generational replacement. Every generation is a little less racist than their parents.

22. Unfortunately, it's taking it's sweet time
13% of the votes in one of Mississippis districts in 2004 went to a White Supremacist.

Saw a canadian documentary last night that followed up on the 'Mississippi Burning' & the racism that existed 40 years ago.

21. this guy's life is hosed. he's way too old to ever recover from these
horrific injuries. responding to the news with callous celebration may make you feel good, but it feeds the freepers... remember, he's suffering. badly. horrific pain. it's enough, i think. focus on our positives, not their negatives.

31. I won't shed any tears for that piece of shit
And I won't take joy in his suffereing either. But really, how self-righteous can you POSSIBLY be? The guy is a waste of organic material, he got what was coming to him, and we have proof of an intelligent universe after all. Get off your high horse for just long enough to see that sometimes suffering is deserved, even if unrelated to the original misdeeds. I AM glad he survived, though. He would have been getting off lightly to die of the injuries.

And yes, call me callous, but I really WOULD like to see a cartoon re-enactment of the incident.
