Perry letter commending Clinton found
Hutchison aides assail 'hyprocrisy' after videotape was circulated by governor's allies
By R.G. RATCLIFFE
Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle

AUSTIN - A week after Gov. Rick Perry's campaign tried to link one of his potential GOP primary rivals to U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a 1993 letter emerged in which Perry called Clinton's efforts at health care reform "commendable."

Perry's Republican allies circulated a videotape last week that has a shot of Clinton with U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, at a nonpartisan event on historic preservation.

The videotape played up a brief hug and air kiss between the women and featured then-first lady Clinton, now the Democratic senator from New York, saying she is "delighted that Kay is my partner on so many fronts."

On Monday, Hutchison's campaign aides said the Perry letter to Clinton showed he was a hypocrite in making the videotape.

5. Would KBH be a better Gov?
Obviously a Dem would be the best bet, but I've seen Kay on The Daily Show and other programs and she seems to have a sliver of sanity. Of course, her leaving the Senate would open too many doors for too many Texas repuke nutcases!

6. A logical move after being "the better Senator"....
Compared to the loathsome Phil Gramm & now the dreadful John Cornyn.

Cornyn's Democratic opponent was a moderate African-American who'd been successful as mayor of Dallas; many were surprised he lost. That election was the first for electronic voting in Texas--starting in Austin & Harris County (Houston). Two of the more liberal areas in the state--but that was just a coincidence.

The editorial in the latest Texas Monthly reamed Perry thoroughly for the education bill, although it's not all his fault. But even the Republicans want him OUT.

12. Yes. Considering that Texas will probably elect a
Republican, KBH is much preferable to Perry---the man is just another Bush/Rove Butt Boy.

I heard KBH talking about Amtrack and the need for investment in High Speed Rail, and she made a lot of sense---more than just a sliver of sanity.

7. They love to tear people down.. It doesn't even matter that they are both
Republicans. Very rarely do you ever hear a Republican say a nice thing about someone. It is almost always mean nasty smear stuff just to bring that person down to their level in the eyes of the voter. If they can't raise their own esteem in the voter's eyes then they tear down the other person.
Standard operating procedure for the Republicans and I for one am damn sick of people like that. They are very immoral people.

13. Texas GOPs Trade Barbs Over Clinton
The campaigns of Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, widely expected to be opponents in next year's GOP gubernatorial race, are taking political shots at each other over apparently friendly relationships with liberal Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Last week, Perry's campaign circulated a video that showed the conservative senator speaking kindly of Clinton, and now a 1993 letter has emerged in which Perry called Clinton's health care reform efforts "commendable."

<snip>

The videotape, made by two men working for Perry's campaign, showed Clinton with Hutchison at a recent event at a museum devoted to women's history in Washington. It played up a brief hug and air kiss between the women and featured Clinton saying she is "delighted that Kay is my partner on so many fronts."

"We're being very aggressive in everything we do," Perry campaign director Luis Saenz said last week. "And you ain't seen nothing yet."

15. Yeah whatever.
Really points out the lack of anything substantive in the GOP, don't it?

"You like Hillary, Nyah Nyah Nyah!!"
"Do not: YOU like Hillary!"
"Nuh-uh, YOU liked her FIRST!"
"Ricky and HIllary, sittin in a tree - K-I-S-S-I-N-G."
"Shut UP!"
"YOU shut up!"
"No YOU shut up!"

"Ladies and gentlemen: The Governor of the State of Texas." :eyes:

18. oh man, how do we help?
I heard that Kay Bailey Hutchison had a lesbineener affair with "Hitlary".

And, Rick Perry really is gay and Hillary is his hag. In fact they were spotted together on Fire Island with Matthew McConaughey playing naked bongos and getting stoned, not in that order.

You see, this is what they do to us: stir the pot. Let's help them with theirs.

19. I found it amusing, when CNN reported this, they said "the best way
to enrage any REpublican is to mention the name Clinton!"

I think it's very sad, but also very true.

That's why Hillary will never become President, but the same situation exists for anyone with the name Bush! Because of the hatered generated within the Dem Party, no Bush will ever become Pres again either!

Did I miss the announcement that there will be a major overhaul of our election process? That the Bushes will not be able to steal another election? ;)

23. Why yes, yes you did.
The major overhaul is that Diebold has already announced the election results for both 2006 and 2008.

Isn't it wonderful? We don't need to even bother voting anymore.

24. After Jebbie gets his 8 years of reign, maybe they'll run Prescott Bush.
The only mystery left is in regard to how much gall they have.
