Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, criticized President Bush and distanced herself from Republican colleagues during a wide-ranging discussion of policy issues with the editorial board of the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram Tuesday. Here is a sample of what Collins said.
# President Bush mishandled the debate on Social Security reform by proposing the creation of personal retirement accounts instead of focusing on how to stabilize the program's long-term financial health.
...
# Congress set a bad precedent by forcing a federal court review in the case of Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman who was removed from life support.

http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/state/050330collins.shtmlI'm really getting tired of her as a "moderate" Republican. WHen it really counts she's there with her hero, Bush, voting for Frist, Gonzalez, Rice, etc. During her campaign she made a statement saying she'd never vote against a Bush appointment. She's a moderate my ass!
I still can't believe Maine re-elected her. :grr:
