LAT: Europe’s Boys of Jihad (Iraq is "motor" for younger recruits)

Europe’s Boys of Jihad
Islamic extremism on the continent is attracting younger recruits than ever and converting them more quickly.

By Sebastian Rotella, Times Staff Writer

....Before the Sept. 11 attacks, the thousands of militants from around the world who flocked to Al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan, and to the wars in Chechnya and Bosnia-Herzegovina, were mostly in their 20s and 30s. In his book profiling 172 jihadis of that era, "Understanding Terror Networks," Sageman found a median age of 26, as "most people joined the jihad well past adolescence."

In the aftermath of Sept. 11 and the Iraq war, however, the process of radicalization has spread and speeded up. At an age when angry teens in Los Angeles drift into street gangs, some of their peers in Europe plunge into global networks that send them to train, fight and die in far-off lands.

"Iraq is the motor," said a senior French anti-terrorism official, who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons. "It's making them all go crazy, want to be shaheed . The danger of suicide attacks in Europe and the United States increases as you have younger guys who are fervent and easily manipulated."

Along with longtime resentment and alienation experienced by some in immigrant communities, technology such as computers and Arabic-language satellite TV plays a major role in molding militants earlier, European officials say. Internet sites and chat rooms have become a virtual sanctuary, widening access to propaganda and training materials for an emerging "second generation" of extremists....

1. The USA just doesn't fathom what they have done by invading Iraq
.
.
.

I mean even the US citizens aren't really aware of the magnitude of what their own government has unleashed on them with this invasion.

Pictures and stories of what is happening in Iraq, that are rarely if ever seem by US citizens are circulating like wildfire in the East.

Pictures of dead, dying, and dismembered babies and children, stories of rape and torture - destruction of sacred lands buildings and documents etc, are guaranteed to incite the young, and fuel a murderous hatred for the invaders, anyone that supports the invaders, and any locals that work for or with these invaders . . .

Generations of hatred and death have been generated by this one horrendous murderous act of the United States . .

(sigh)

2. Some of us understand. The intelligent ones. The hatred that will come
from the next generations of Middle Easterners is impossible to gauge. It is also impossible to prevent the revenge of these 'jihadists' because not only are they going to come from the families or Iraqis who lost relatives in 'Shock and Awe' and Falluja and Ramadi and every other place that we killed civilians in out quest for domination and control, but these buffoons intend to attack more countries and subjugate and occupy them as well. There is not any way in hell that this is possible. We may bomb the shit out of them in air attacks but we cannot possibly maintain control over the populace for any length of time. Even with 14 air bases. Or 100.

On top of all that, I think that soon we're going to find that the Russians or the Chinese will be taking sides in this mess too. The neo cons are only fooling themselves. Militarily and economically the good old US of A has seen better days.

3. I have been saying this for 2 YEARS HERE
When you see you mother Blown to bits by a STRAY BOMB.

Your 5 year old sister machine gunned to death at a U.S. "CHECKPOINT".

Your 13 year old brother anally Raped by U.S. Soldiers.

When you see 15 neighborhood children Burned to a crisp by a WP CBU.

You tend to get PISSED OFF and willing to die to eject the toothless wonders from the back woods of amerika and the rest of the willing war criminals.

The thugs with a US flag on their shoulder who like to call your friends and neighbors "Rag-Heads" and "SAND NIGGERS" and who take joy in KILLING your family.

4. Surge in Al Queda ranks , because of Bush policy
Bush is the worlds no 1 terrorist. His policies did more recruiting for Al Queda than Osama Bin Laden could wish for in his dreams.

5. Maybe Osama KNEW the Boy King would go ballistic
.
.
.

and had no plans for anything further until the Mad Murikkkan did his recruiting for him

Dead or Alive, OSAMA can claim "Mission Accomplished" . . .

Bush did indeed foster more hatred in the East towards the West than Bin Laden could have EVER accomplished in a lifetime.

(sigh)

6. OK, I'll start the flame war. Remembe who osama worked for.

The two families have been close for decades. To think that he did 9/11 in secret, on his own, without the bush family knowing anythingabout it is just plain foolish. IMHO, this was done either under the diretion of, or with the tacit approval of that old spook, George H.W.Bush. After all, he was the one with the lont time CIA connections that were needed to pull this off.

We all hate the chimp so much that we let the only smart one in the family off the hook.

BUSH AND HITLER: Is History Repeating Itself?

CHILLING DEJA VU: Hitler and Bush; Stalin and Bush’s Conservative
Reform Movement; The GOP of 1936 and Today’s Dirty Politics
By Cheryl Seal (cherylseal@hotmail.com)

BUSH AND HITLER: Is History Repeating Itself?

No one expected Hitler to rise to power. He had failed at just about everything he had even undertaken until he discovered politics. In the world of spin and power plays, a superficial gift of gab and bullish determination could replace intelligence and idealism without missing a beat. Hitler found that the path to the top was short: Just tell a discontent people what they want to hear and make promises you have no intention to keep.

In Hitler’s first radio speech after becoming Chancellor on January 30, 1933, he pledged “to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and cooperation” and invoked God’s blessing on the German government. (Hitler was a fervent Christian - a fact too many have either forgotten or never knew, thanks to sanitized school history books). But, the Fuhrer soon proved he had no intention of being a uniter. The Nazis' battle cry throughout their campaign had been “down with the liberals!” Once in office, Hitler made “liberals” (a mass group into which he lumped social democrats, gays, Jews, and any threat to Hitler’s model of Christian society) his sworn enemies.
