According to the newspaper report, the US-based carmaker said in a memo to its employees on Monday that it would offer early retirement packages to select salaried employees this month. A senior executive said in the e-mailed memo that if Ford Motor could not entice enough employees to accept the offers, the company might have to resort to involuntary separations, Detroit News reported. The newspaper also cited a Ford spokeswoman, Marcey Evans, as saying that the company expects the job cuts to be completed by June 30, 2005. The spokeswoman said that the latest white-collar job cuts are aimed at helping the company achieve its financial targets.
