UK petrol prices hit record high
"Petrol prices at UK pumps have reached their highest-ever levels, according to petrol consultancy Catalyst.

A litre of unleaded petrol now costs 85.6p and some analysts are warning of further increases to come.

The previous record was 85.3p in 2000, when drivers blockaded roads to protest at the soaring costs and government plans to raise taxes on fuel."

1. at the current exchange rate

85p would get you $1.60 ( exchange rate of £1 to $1.88 ).

So a litre of petrol is $1.60. Now, in Imperial ( British ) weights and measures. A US Gallon is smaller than an Imperial Gallon.

There are 4.54 ( rounded ) litres in an imperial gallon. In the UK a gallon of petrol would cost you $7.12. A US Gallon ( 3.78 litres ) of gas, purchased in the UK would cost you $6.40.

What are you all complaining about again? :patriot:

5. Yikes! Forget my complaints for today.
On the other hand, we should be aware that Europe has had tax surcharges on their gas for years. They have learned to adapt over the years to paying higher prices for their petrol = they have become efficient in their gas consumption.

Europe probably only has a fraction of the waste that the US has. Their societies are designed so that you can use public transportation, they have smaller cars, pedestrian-only areas, carpool, walk much more etc.

So they will still do much better than we will at the end of the day.
