Ky. Police Chief Indicted on Meth Charges
Saturday April 9, 2005 4:01 PM

By BRUCE SCHREINER

Associated Press Writer

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky police chief who had been credited by his mayor with helping combat the scourge of methamphetamine in their small town has been indicted on two meth-related charges.

Bobby Sauls, police chief of Sebree, a town of 1,700 about 100 miles southwest of Louisville, was indicted Wednesday and faces five to 10 years in prison if convicted on each count. A hearing is set for May 6.

The charges stem from an investigation by a Kentucky State Police special drug enforcement unit.

``It underscores the seriousness of the meth problem that's spreading throughout Kentucky,'' state police Capt. Lisa Rudzinski said Friday. She said Sauls was not suspected of making meth.

3. Police chief Sauls "effectively combated meth in the area"
Well yeah. Because he effectively cornered the market.

Still, innocent until proven guilty. He has, of course, not been arrested, only summonsed to appear in court.

4. "Speed" is the tool of the Devil ..
and, technically, in my faith, we don't believe in the Devil!

Oh, well.

Its temptations (the high, the money) are just too great to resist.

Of course, the level of violence in the biz is incredible.

And the Tijuana Cartel is made up of a rather nasty group of individuals (who we deal with out here in SoCal).

I'll have to re-read what I posted.

What I know about it comes from the officers (federal, state, county) that work "intelligence."

On edit:
I was a social worker for many years in San Bernardino. Now, I'm a law student/law-clerk.

7. It "underscores" the power of MONEY..and LOTS of it
There are MANY people who would do exactly what he did if they could make a ton of money, and were in a position to "cover it up".. He must have gotten greedy :)
