Anthrax Mailer May Not Have Intended Harm
Gee what a convenient excuse ... did it for the good of all of us eh? :puke: :puke: :puke: Excuses, excuses ...

<<Sept. 29 — WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The deadly 2001 U.S. anthrax attacks may have been carried out by someone who did not intend to cause any harm, a top FBI official said on Monday.
Of the possibility that a scientist wanted to issue a wake-up call about the bioterrorism threat and it went out of control, FBI Assistant Director Michael Mason told a news conference, "That's a possible theory, but it's all conjecture."

Asked why there had been no other attacks, Mason said, "I suppose the leading thought might be the person didn't intend to cause harm, and did."

1. horse hockey
Odd that attacks (not meant to hurt anyone :eyes:) were so concentrated on Democrats. This is the biggest bs excuse for the lack of prosecution in this case yet.

It just so happens that our misguided well-meaning terrorist sent the the stuff to Democratic leadership and members of the "liberal" media?

3. A trillion spores per gram. It's for your own good.
"The letter received by Senator Tom Daschle contained one trillion anthrax spores per gram: a concentration which only a very few US government scientists, using a secret and strictly controlled technique, know how to achieve. It must, moreover, have been developed in a professional laboratory, containing rare and sophisticated "weaponisation" equipment. There is only a tiny number of facilities - all of them in the US - in which it could have been produced."

George Monbiot, "Riddle of the Spores", May 21, 2002

6. bizarrely idiotic
if he intended simply to point out that such an attack was possible, he could have used flour or baking soda, or even geniune anthrax but hermetically sealed in a rugged baggie prominently labeled BIO-HAZARD DO NOT OPEN.

perhaps next he will waltz into a bank with a loaded gun and shoot people just to show that it's possible. of course, he means no harm.

or maybe he'll cripple the internet with a virus, again, meaning no harm.

they've been inventing idiotic excuses to justify the criminal acts of the right-wing going back to the abortion doctor shootings. come to think of it, they made excuses for nixon's plumbers, too....

8. kind of takes the ? away of
who dunnit huh? They must know who is behind the anthrax attacks if they are now saying that the person meant no harm. Tell that to Daschle, Leahy and the others. I bet those who died in the attacks never got a dime out of this either did they?

They whole think stinks ... *phew* I smell a major scheme behind all of this ... a :puke: scheme might I suggest?

In the meantime, who the hell did this and where are they and why are they not behind bars?

7. If you don't intend to cause harm, if you
mean to issue a "wake-up" call about possible terrorism, you send a hoax. You send talcum powder. You don't send refined, potent, easily dispersed anthrax spores on the order of a trillion per gram. The Daschle letter said "You Die Now."

Some wake-up. We all better fucking wake-up.

Except for whatever Bush said, but I digress...

Anybody with the knowledge and skills to make this shit in the first place certainly knows what can happen.

Even if the FBI official floated this dumbass theory through his head, what would possess them to say it publicly? Setting us up?

And finally,

Tell that shit to the lady from the Bronx, Kathy Nguyen, who died from this "lesson", you fucking retard.

34. There is another possible reason...
They are actually contemplating whether to arrest the guilty party, and are trying to downplay the connection to the Repubs by saying "he was only trying to make a point that those dumb Democrats keep ignoring."

"You see, the killer was a good intentioned PATRIOT trying to wake those stupid Dems up! That's why he has close ties to the Republican party, the CIA and the US biological weapons programme!"

"He never intended to MURDER Democrats, only SCARE them into doing the right thing and voting for the PATRIOT Act!"

25. You've got it all wrong
They're trying to pin this on the scientist (Hatfill) who previously, in his career was warning of the possibility of biological attacks through the mail.

All along they've been saying that Hatfill's supposed motive was that he was proving his own point by sending the anthrax. Their argument is that Anthrax is more of a "proof of concept" than a full-fledged attack (small pox for example). Talcum powder would just be written off as a hoax. Anthrax is something you can actually die of, BUT when people are made aware, it's 'relatively' harmless. Wasn't it Peter Jennings who grimly popped his Cipro tablet on air?

Anyway, I dunno if Hatfill did it or not, but I've read the above argument made by the FBI since Hatfill was named as a 'person of interest'. Thought this would help put things in perspective.

27. My two theories
1. Mr. "It's only a harmless joke" Scientist knew that if he only sent it to Democrats, the FBI wouldn't try very hard to find him.

2. Someone was ordered by the WH to send it as a threat to Democrats. They are now setting someone up to be the fall guy. I'm sure that person will closely resemble the profile they've set up: an adult male who was working alone and did it as a harmless demonstration. I'm betting that he is found dead of Anthrax with a note 'proving' that he worked alone. Assassin found, case closed.

36. meant to murder and change the Senate balance
That was no mere intimidation and he didn't much care who got hurt in the dleivery system so long as it snuck in and disrupted or killed top Senate Democrats.

A very loyal entrepreneur(besides those other motivations about growing the biowarfare industry) or an obliquely hired gun.

And sorry, Mr Hatfill's resume and possible actions in Africa still fill the bill pretty well. He's no Richard Jewell but they(?) sidetracked and delayed until the evidence trail dried up.

Plus how quick was Perle and company to create the fake Hussein connection with this serendipitous event? With a storyline prepared that predates the attacks?

And the attacks still were very ofdd in appearing to be one thing or another and attacking one group or another. Also the issue of the attacker pinning the blame on Arabs and even a specific Arab colleague?

Why is the FBI bothering to tell us this non-information now anyway?
I guess partly it might be to break the conscience stricken pressured suspect?

Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 02:21 AM by sheeeeeesh
Vanity Fair has an article written by (duh, best go
get the magazine).

Ok, the lead-in says:

2 years after the deadly anthrax mailings raised the threat of
bioterrorism, the FBI is still ignoring "hoax" letters that
might point to the culprit. Describing his role in the
investigation, Don Foster, the language expert who exposed
Joe Klein as the author of "Primary Colors" and helped
nail the alleged Atlanta Olymopics bomber, goes public
with his story.

Interesting article. He said that FBI has discarded
evidence in other hoax cases. I think one was a bottle
and some letters. The way I read it, he seems to lean to the Hatfill man.

Funny thing is, I don't believe anything govt says and I
have no idea if this Foster wears a white or black hat.

Edit to correct typo. Hope there aren't any more.
