Former employee shot inside entrance of Detroit television station

DETROIT (AP) -- A former employee visiting WDIV was shot shortly after walking into the television station's building Friday by a man police and the station say previously has assaulted WDIV employees.

The suspected gunman was standing inside the station's doors when the victim walked in and was shot about 4:30 p.m, Police Chief Ella Bully Cummings said. The gunman then fled.

The victim was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where Bully-Cummings said he was in critical condition and undergoing surgery Friday evening.

1. Unfortunately, there are a lot of unbalanced folks out there

Back in the day when I worked in TV in the midwest, this guy drove onto the lot of the station, circled it one time, hitting a number of cars before plowing into the front doors of the station.

It just so happened that that evening, I was at the station on my day off---I'd 'borrowed' my mom's car without asking her and wouldn't you know it--her car was one of the ones hit. Seems the 'demolition man' was convinced that the satellite dishes were beaming messages to his home...

Yeah, this guy seems like real nut job, luckily the police caught him pretty quickly. When first I heard about this I thought were going to have another Brian Nichols situation
