Republicans launch twin attacks to stop Hillary's return to the WH
So typical...:puke:

Republicans launch twin attacks to stop Hillary's return to the White House
By Philip Sherwell in Washington

Senior Republican activists have launched two high-profile campaigns aimed at sabotaging Senator Hillary Clinton's hopes of an elected return to the White House - even though the next presidential contest is three and a half years away.

It was also revealed last week that Mrs Clinton is to be the unwilling subject of a book in the autumn which will reportedly contain explosive revelations from her time as First Lady. The book, The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President, is being written by Ed Klein, a best-selling biographer and the scourge in print of the Kennedy clan.

The ratcheting-up of "Stop Hillary" operations reflects a grudging acknowledgement among Republicans that Mrs Clinton, long regarded as an unreformed liberal out of touch with the country's political mood, has been carefully staking out middle-of-the-road positions on issues such as abortion and immigration.

Both the Republican fund-raising initiatives are initially targeted at defeating Mrs Clinton when she runs next year for a second term in the Senate. Their organisers, however, make little secret of the fact that they are hoping to deal a crippling blow to a leading frontrunner for the Democrat nomination for the 2008 White House race.

She unelectable at this time because she is a WOMAN.
I think the GOP is pulling a snow job emphasising the possibility of her running to deflect attention from other possible candidates.

repugs will come out in bigger droves to vote against hillary than they did to vote against gay marriage...and i'd say at least 25% of Dems aren't all enamoured with the idea of voting for her either.
I know that i'll NEVER waste my vote on her. I'd either abstain, or vote green.

43. Yeah but why is that?
There's something about her that hits those rw buttons. And I'm just not sure what it is. She's certainly no wild-eyed liberal. Yes, she's female -- perhaps that's enough for them. Female and capable? That could do it.

But the level of hatred directed at her has always struck me as strange and very out of proportion.

11. She's aleady been NY Senator for six years, she has a record to run on
And that will be the hard part of the repukes sale - how can you convince a population that the world will end if she's re-elected after she's been there for so long and the world hasn't ended?

Unless they got NY stacked with corrupt election officials and a myraid of electronic voting machines, they're fucking nuts about stopping her in 2006. Brings the term, "miserable failure" to mind.

I look forward to her 2006 campaign. I thnk she's a risk as a presidential candidate, at this point, but that could change. I really want to see how she'll handle these "stop hillary" morons - she could really strengthen her image

Once again, I want to say to the unAmerican crooks and liars on the right, and the lurking bushbots here, bring it on.

54. But their timing is worse
Kerry was hit with a book containing hundreds of lies - that he and some of his team debunked - had the book come out even say a year earlier, Kerry could have blown it completely out of the water instead of wasting valuable time. The only difference would be if they had anything real on the Hillary (or any other candidate they try this on.)

if Hillary got the nomination it would guarantee them another 4 years in the Whitehouse. This is a switch cause they usually promote her, nothing unites the repukes like hate for Hillary, she brings in lots of money and votes for them.

37. Hypocrisy alert!
One of these campaigns is headed up by newlywed Arthur Finkelstein.

Creepy political operative Arthur Finkelstein is all warm for Hillary Clinton's form: in fact, his new Anti-Hillary PAC is reportedly up and running, and it's even hilariously being called "Stop Her Now."
http://www.wonkette.com/politics/democrats/hillary-stop-her-now-please-032352.php

G.O.P. Consultant Weds His Male Partner
By ADAM NAGOURNEY

WASHINGTON, April 8 - Arthur J. Finkelstein, a prominent Republican consultant who has directed a series of hard-edged political campaigns to elect conservatives in the United States and Israel over the last 25 years, said Friday that he had married his male partner in a civil ceremony at his home in Massachusetts.

http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0409-06.htm

Here's the most egregious hypocrisy:
Mr. Finkelstein, 59, who has made a practice of defeating Democrats by trying to demonize them as liberal, said in a brief interview that he had married his partner of 40 years to ensure that the couple had the same benefits available to married heterosexual couples.

"I believe that visitation rights, health care benefits and other human relationship contracts that are taken for granted by all married people should be available to partners," he said.

If Mr. Finkelstein truly believes that, then why in the world is he a Republican attack dog going after Hillary Clinton? Shameful.

38. Hillary is a fund raising gold mine to the Republicans
Her chances to actually become the nominee have been hurt by her association with the DLC and Dean becoming party chair. Her positions also brand her as Republican Lite. This translates into problems motivating the ground troops.

But say her name around the Republican faithful and they start foaming at the mouth. She and Bill get the blood boiling like nothing else. The cynical fund-raising types know this and exploit it to rake in tons of cash, much of which will be used for other races when the election rolls around.

39. Message to Hillary ---------------- please don't run!
If you do run for the Presidency, you only confirm what they say about your thirst for power. Do the right thing and be an outstanding Senator from New York. It's a perfect fit for helping shape national policy. You are one of only one hundred Senators. That is one of the most exclusive clubs in the world and a offers a powerful platform for your ideas. I personally am looking closely at Sen. Feingold of Wisconsin. I am not interested in regurgitating Al or John, but wouldn't mind seeing a Feingold/Clark or Edwards/Boxer type ticket.

40. This is NOT about Hillary Clinton ..... it IS about the RW trying to pick
the candidate they want.

Purported polls notwithstanding, I get a sense there's little serious widespread support for Sen. Clinton. However, by keeping her name out there, the RW props her up. If they do it enough, they get to run against her and they think that favors them (I'm not sure I agree with them on that.) If she doesn't run, the echo chamber still protects them by giving any other possible candidate no air time. Once again, they're playing us like a fucking fiddle.

Think devious, disgusting and manipulative and you'll start to see what they're doing.

This is not an attack on the original poster at all, but I am sick unto DEATH of letting the GOP pick our nominees for us.

How about we pick our OWN damn nominee in a fair primary and tell the GOP to get stuffed?

51. No matter who wins the Dem primarly in 2008,
People need to be warned about the mainstream media backing up the ditto-pigboy media in the crucial several months before the election.
Dickface O'Neill would have gotten nowhere if the mainstream media hadn't pumped up his lies about Kerry before the 2004 election. We need to get proof that the mainstream media pumps up repigs before the elections to make them stealable. If they criticize republicans in the non-election years, so what? It's how the mainstream media is a campaign ad for the republicans months before the elections that count. Really why should Rush Limbaugh's and Ann Coulter's annus faces be on CNN anytime? Without mainstream backup of the wingnuts, they would swing little.
