Judge allows feeding tube for Cuban on hunger strike

MIAMI - A Cuban exile on a monthlong hunger strike protesting his detention as a suspected spy was in a hospital's inmate ward Friday after a judge cleared the way to put a feeding tube in him.

U.S. District Judge Paul Huck agreed with another judge's order to "involuntarily administer nutrients" to Juan Emilio Aboy via the stomach or intravenously, and to restrain him if he tries to remove it. Aboy, 44, has been held for three years without criminal charges but faces immigration charges. Officials said he began his hunger strike March 13, accepting only water, while demanding release from Krome Detention Center.

U.S. investigators claim Aboy was a courier for the Miami-based and Cuban-directed Wasp Network in the 1990s and was ordered to infiltrate the U.S. Southern Command, the military command for Latin America and the Caribbean.

If he's been in this detention center for over 30 days, what are they doing? Isn't the punishment for illegal immegration deportation?

If the arrogant US gov establishes formal and fully normalized relations with Cuba it would (should) include full deportation/extradition agreements. BUT NOOOOO.. the US just has to keep the standoff agin' Cuba going on and on and on and on and on..

on edit: If the US did formalize an extradition/deportation agreement w/Cuba do you realize that Cuba would request the extradition of many hundreds of Miamicuban exile terrorists (many of whom are embedded in GOP politics)?

4. Coulda sworn 100 years ago that was

judge to be an illegal maneuver unless said hunger struking individual was in the process of being tried for a crime.

PS - Pending Charges on immigration violations is a really gray area since he hasn't been charged in 3 years.

7. If the hunger striker had a Living Will and all legal

requirements to deny the use of a feeding tube, would the judge's order supercede his Will?
