Bush coming to Lincoln Museum dedication
BY LISA KERNEK
COPLEY NEWS SERVICE

SPRINGFIELD — President Bush and his wife, Laura, will travel to Springfield Tuesday for the dedication of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, the White House confirmed Friday.

(snip)

"Everything will be brief," Smith added, "including his remarks and the ceremony."

Following Friday’s announcement, at the request of the Secret Service, city crews began removing street lights, traffic signals and trees near Union Square Park, site of the dedication ceremony. The poles and trees could obstruct the view of government snipers who will be protecting the president, city spokesman Ernie Slottag explained.

The trees are to be replanted after the ceremony.

We are blue, blue, blue!

Our mayor, Bill Borregard, and 99% (one freeper holdout) of the city council signed a decleration that they wouldn't honor parts of the Patriot Act they found violated the rights of Pasadena residents.

spoke at the DeAnza college sports field. Also, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's did NOT allow any person inside the public outdoor field who "seemed" anti Reagan. People with paper signs, no sticks. A bomb painted on cheek. Colored hair... I have pics but to this day they're lost in boxes.

I always thought about what if one of those snipers goes wacko? Do they have snipers on the snipers?

that the murderous paranoid chimpy can not have one private moment...can't stroll through a park, can't lay on a beach listening to the waves, can't sit at a Dairy Queen eating a cone, can't window shop at Chrismas time on a snowy evening. Most of the nicest things to do in life...he can't. And to think, he created that life for himself out of lies and greed. Just desserts.

brownstones to get a look at Clinton on 125th Street, shortly after he had left the presidency.

People wanted to see him. There was a large crowd. One man climbed a lamppost to see over people's heads. Another man was leaning out the window from the 3rd floor, which gave him a good view.

That was all the "security" necessary for Bill Clinton.

This tyrant is uprooting trees which may not survive. Why should trees be uprooted for his photo op? He can go somewhere treeless. (Where's the nearest tundra?)

Edit: I don't know what made me do it, buy I looked up "tundra". Read this definition.

A treeless area between the icecap and the tree line of Arctic regions, having a permanently frozen subsoil and supporting low-growing vegetation such as lichens, mosses, and stunted shrubs.

Ha! Perfect. Send our stunted shrub to the tundra.

I'm sorry, but we've gone overboard. This pResident must live in total fear. Maybe that's why he stutters. Our system of government was set up to serve the people, but we've gotten to the point where the omniscient leader is all important (or is that now pronounced "impordant" as spokespeople in this admin like to say?) must be protected from all regular citizens. Scrape off your bumper stickers and leave your cell phone at home if you want to be within 20 miles of this guy.

Maybe his paranoia comes from a meth problem, not coke. He's out of control imho.

On a music board I go to, one of the posters is a nurse at a pediatrics hospital in the neighborhood of this GWB Photo Op in Springfield and says that they were told they couldn't be open during his visit, they will not be able to see patients on that day.

She says that every pediatric specialist in town is in this center and are having to shuffle around these kids and I imagine a lot of them are quite ill. She sounds pretty pissed off especially since they were told at the last minute. She said, "Bush showing how much he cares for kids."

A prominent Lincoln scholar gave it that name after seeing the "life-like" Lincoln family figures placed in dioramas. It makes the presidential animatronics at Disneyland seem positively dignified. This should complete the desecration of Lincoln's memory.

is being spent like this when everything
in our back yards is broken. Our schools,
our public and social protective services, all
being shredded into nothing while they
spend like madmen on something like
this.
I'm going to explode just thinking about it.

51. This too, shall pass.
The years of the the thief are four.
Certainly no more.

Then he is going to have to get inside a bubble
AND STAY THERE.

63. I'm not a local, but I found this article online:
http://www.sj-r.com/sections/news/stories/53209.asp

Possibly, the trees in question were recently planted? Still, this sounds like quite a pricey little visit for the community! Maybe write the Senator that's all jiggy about this and ask him

Not how I want my taxes spent, that's for sure!

82. If the trees in question were recently planted,
and they're relatively young, then they absolutely must be removed. All it takes is one person with a body diameter of five inches or less to get lost in there among the trunks. Really, this is all for your own good.

:sarcasm:

64. But trees lower summer temperatures which reduces energy use
as well as making outdoor spaces more comfortable. It will be years before the replacement trees are as efficient in doing this as the current trees.

Hear a midi file an read the lyrics at the above link.

See they have driven me stark raving MAD!

I love line: Catch them in their unawares!

That seems to be a state
bu$h always remains.

74. Please give me your thoughts on this:
"NEW PORT RICHEY - A bronze plaque commemorating President George W. Bush's election stop here during the 2004 campaign will be dedicated at 3:30 p.m. April 29 at Sims Park, between Main and Bank streets."

This is in Pasco County, Florida.

81. Another taxpayer supported false idol
Will it be placed next to the 10C's? j/k

Maybe they can figure out a way to have the Party of Repression provide sole financial support for it. Otherwise, it's taxation without representation. :hurts:

80. I just heard this on this morning's news up here in Chicago
Was it big news downstate?...the 'announcement' he'll be there?

The whole thing makes me physically ill that he comes and puts a stain on the whole thing. No doubt his "brief" comments will include "freedom and democracy" with some sort of convoluted connection to Iraq.

Oh, and the mandatory Social Security Reform. :puke:

85. Durbin from Illinois the next target for Repukes!
I have not seen a thread on this yet, but apparently, Durbin a Lincoln/Jewish joke during his speach at the opening. They are going to crucify him in the media and make it out to be Trent Lott like. I have to say he was STUPID! STUPID! STIPID!

Watch for it tomorrow.
