New pope suffered 1991 brain hemorrhage
http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/04/20/pope.health/

snip:
When he was a cardinal in 1991, Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, suffered a brain hemorrhage "which laid him down for a while, but he recovered from it," said CNN Vatican analyst John Allen on Wednesday.

snip:
When Ratzinger told cardinals in the conclave why he wanted to take on the name Benedict XVI, "one of the things he alluded to was the fact that Benedict XV, the last pope to have that name, had one of the shortest pontificates of the 20th century," Allen said.

"So I think he has a very keen sense that this may not be a very long pontificate and there's an awful lot to do."

1. Yep... there's lots to do...
Lots of hate to spread around... better get to work. Watcha wanna bet he publishes a book about the evils of homosexuality and women before his "term" is up?

(And what's with aspiring to an early demise?)

Sex Abuse Victims Urge Vatican Action Against Prominent Priest

In December, Ratzinger's Office Began Investigating Multiple Allegations

Accused of Molesting Nine Boys, He Recently Headed Controversial Religious Order

US-Based Group Upset About Fr. Maciel of Legion of Christ

WHAT

At a sidewalk news conference, clergy molestation victims will publicly urge Catholic officials to thoroughly and quickly complete a pending church investigation against a high profile priest who founded and for years led a controversial, rapidly-growing international religious order known as the Legion of Christ.

The accused cleric, Fr. Marcial Maciel, was close to Pope John Paul II and resigned a few months ago, shortly after Vatican officials announced they were re-opening the formal case against him.

Looks like new pope might be short lived as prophecy predicted. Here is the link to Pope prediction and we now have one more left to go.

22. when they were having the MSM 'Pope Marathon'
before the announcement of Benedict XVI, one of the Catholic priests that was being interviewed, said they would probably select someone who would have a very short tenure, as it were. The reason being that after John Paul's 26 years, they wouldn't want to select someone 'young' again, that would have a long tenure, and change the direction that J.P. had sort of headed them in. I don't know if I really agree with the reasoning, but it does seem he was correct in the 'temporary' department.
