1. What do you think JP2 was doing all these years?...
No, he and Ratzinger removed them all.

End of story.

5. Cardinals aren't removed.
They have successors named once they've retired or died.

3. You'd think they voted electronically
Did all the Cardinals get to vote? How long was the line?

I bet that wasn't even the real ballots that went up in smoke.

Fraud, I say. FRAUD!!

4. On CNN a couple of days ago, their reporter said that the last
Pope changed the rules so that after a certain number of days only a simple majority was needed to elect the next Pope.

Cardinal Ratzinger had over 50% but not the 2/3rds needed.

The 50% made it clear they would just wait the number of days if necessary for Ratzinger to become Pope.

Some of the rest obviously decided it wasn't worth it to wait.

6. JP2 appointed most of the current cardinals
and changes the rule so only cardinals under a certain age could vote

it got rid of the older ones who remember what Vatician 2 actually meant and it strengthened the neo-traditionists who run the church now

7. So, The Powers That Be change the rules to ensure continuation
of the same Powers That Be.

As the Church Lady would say, "My, my, isn't that special?"

8. I'm now convinced that some of Ratzinger's
behind the scenes maneuvering included getting Diebold involved in the papal voting process...
