WP: Delay in Bolton Vote Concerns White House
Administration Fears Postponement May Bring More Public Opposition, New Questions

Saturday, April 23, 2005; Page A02

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has set a vote over John R. Bolton's nomination as ambassador to the United Nations for May 12 -- a delay that Bush administration officials acknowledged yesterday is increasing their anxieties about Bolton's prospects.

The fear, Bolton's backers said privately, is twofold. The new date will give opponents nearly three weeks to fan public reaction against him and to raise new questions about his conservative policy views and alleged bullying management style.

In addition, reports this week that former secretary of state Colin L. Powell told Republican senators his reservations about his former State Department subordinate's suitability for the post could alter the political dynamics of the Bolton battle. What had been a largely partisan quarrel could turn into a broader debate about whether Bolton's detractors have a reasonable case, a Bush administration official said.

A day after Powell's private comments became public in news stories, Vice President Cheney spoke out for a nomination he has aggressively promoted. "I have looked at all of the charges that have been made," he said at a conference of the Republican National Lawyers Association. "I don't think any of them stand up to scrutiny."

"Administration Fears Postponement May Bring More Public Opposition, New Questions"

God forbid the american people find out the truth about this guy and ask QUESTIONS about him...

I mean, we've already got so many other criminals in the admin, you'd think we be over it by now.

3. I think the Colin Powell statements
are killing the WH spin. Powell had to put up with him much longer than Rice did.

16. Yes, and I think Powell
is being honest, but he may also be enjoying a bit of revenge ...for being unceremoniously dumped by this administration.

29. You know, I wonder just what Colin Powell is telling these Senators....
I read yesterday that intelligence analyst John Kokal reported to Powell at least once a week! Did everybody else here get to see the Madsen article? If Kokal was Powell's personal CIA analyst, and he's the one who ended up dead--don't we think that this might be a pressing issue?

Note that he reports that Dr. Gus Weiss, another CIA analyst opposed to the Iraq war, ended up falling out of the Watergate just a few weeks later.

13. Yeah, from the "who cares what you think" contingent.
They DON'T care what we think. They only know how we're expected to think. We're supposed to be nice and meek and mild and simply swallow what we're force-fed. Heaven forbid we ask any questions about it. All these vermin are interested in hearing from the public is "thank you sir, may I have another."

FUCKERS.

5. boofuckinghoo-Bolton is the worst choice ever
way to bitch slap the UN, the same UN that made those election in Iraq happen and thats the thank you they get. How many times has the UN given us cover now? This part, i hope voinovich tell them to "go fuck yourself"

Meanwhile, some conservatives served notice that they are as ready to do battle with Republican opponents of Bolton's nomination as they are with Democrats. Sen. George V. Voinovich (Ohio) was one the Republicans who sought a delay in the committee's vote. Yesterday, the group Move America Forward said it is buying radio spots in Ohio -- it did not say how many or in which markets -- to denounce Voinovich's action.

21. Don`t blame that sham election on the UN. It was a Bu$hco psyop
from start to finish. Those elections were so fake. Allawi did not get votes for shit. But I read that the pompous ass Bu$h licker Allawi is still in power. The guy that loses seems to still retain power when Bu$hco is involved in any so called election.

6. I'm relieved Dick Cheney says Bolton is a swell guy...

"I have looked at all of the charges that have been made," he said at a conference of the Republican National Lawyers Association. "I don't think any of them stand up to scrutiny."

This from a guy who guaranteed the WMD and swears he has no ties to Haliburton.

Riiiiiiiight!

20. Is that why McClellan ducked the question of whether the WH had
investigated the charges and found them to be meritless?

In RW world, whatever you believe to be true is true. Is it any wonder they have no use for a fair judiciary?

23. The judiciary is what's keeping them from unrestricted power.
It's the boulder in the road to complete dominion (and quite possibly civil unrest).

Hopefully there are enough holes in their dike ( Bolton, SS, nuclear option) that the illusion of their power and unity will crumble right in front of our eyes.

Dems on all levels have to keep fighting like mad dogs until the masses see the Chiperor is wearing no clothes.

FUCKER. Maybe they don't look like such a big deal to you because that's the despicable, rough-shod, rat-shit way YOU treat YOUR underlings.

22. Even scarier
This article above shows they even get the news media to cooperate with them. This WP piece doesn't name names or even tell us what has been said. The fourth estate has fallen down again. Why do we always have to read between the lines?

25. Bush is the lamest of lame ducks
Ever since Bush's Social Security scam began getting negative vibes from Rethug Congressmen up for reelection, I've been thinking/hoping that Bush has reached "lame duck" status much earlier than any other Prez in his second term. Practically since Inauguration Day! The Bolton fiasco is another indication of this. Everyone in this town (DC) is tired of the Busheviks.
