Argentine "dirty war" doc jailed for prison births

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, April 22 (Reuters) - A doctor who helped the Argentine military steal babies from political prisoners during the 1976-83 "dirty war" was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in jail.

An Argentine court condemned Jorge Luis Magnacco for falsifying the birth certificate of a baby born to a woman who was being held in a notorious torture center and later disappeared. The baby was given up for adoption.

Magnacco participated in the military dictatorship's "plan of systematic annihilation" of leftists, according to the court verdict. <snip>

As many as 30,000 suspected leftists were kidnapped and murdered during Argentina's dictatorship. <snip>

... sent the babies to military families to raise. I suppose that in some circles this sort of thing passes as good Christian behavior.
