Ex-cop testifies against former bosses (Republican - mob ties)
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-urbana23.html

URBANA -- A former Illinois State Police lieutenant testified Friday that his superiors demoted him for voicing suspicions that one of them was tipping off the suspect of a major organized crime investigation.

Callahan said Friday he worked alongside Fermon for nearly two years on a special task force looking into activities of the suspect, an Edgar County businessman who has given at least $32,000 to former Gov. George Ryan and other state politicians. In April 2003, however, Callahan alerted the State Police's Division of Internal Investigations to possible sabotage by Fermon. snip

In one case leading Callahan to file the internal complaint, the businessman -- who has not been charged with any crimes -- discovered surveillance equipment planted by police shortly after Fermon learned of it, Callahan said. Another time, Callahan said phone calls from the businessman to mob figures in New York and Sicily abruptly stopped after Fermon heard of wiretaps on the phones. snip

Earlier Friday, Callahan repeated his claim that Carper told him not to pursue the businessman as a possible target once State Police executives learned he was a political patron of then-Gov. Ryan, and then-Attorney General Jim Ryan -- a claim Carper adamantly denied on the stand Thursday.

1. I was born in Chicago suburbs. 1. The story of the 2 firemen calling

the fisherman 'nigger' are true in my eyes. I lived it. As you can see in my posts for 3 years on the DU. It was like that in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and it's still like that now when I go back to visit. Rascism is alive and well in Illinois. Many white people still just hate anything but white people. Especially the scorn on African Americans is unbelievable. Not to forget Chicago has a very large German Catholic population, hint hint Pope.

2. Everyone in Illinois knew the term "Machine" when talking about politics. Yes Daley had a "Machine" but the State Repuke "Machine" had to be bigger because the State carried the power from Washington, the National Guard, State Police, all state agencies...

I personally worked at companies where the owner had complete knowledge they were hiring illegal Mexican workers. I know this because I talked with the owner and heard this first hand. Not only that, the owners knew the illegal workers would go back to Mexico during the winter and would be collecting Unemployment Compensation during this time period. I never found out if the checks were sent to Mexico by the State of Illinois or just cashed in MX.

3. My old post: my friend was caught with 3 others stealing a car. Police pursued them and arrested. The border of Indiana is only a few miles from their neighborhood. Stolen in Illinois and caught in Indiana. Therefore crossing state lines is a felony. My friend paid the DA $1500, his lawyer $1500 (above the normal fee), the federal judge got $3000. This all happened at noon, while the judge ate lunch on the bench. My friend said the judge only said, "Are you a good kid?" and my friend answered "yes sir". All records were destroyed.
