Roof protest at Prescott's home (UK Deputy PM gets solar panels!)
Note to Mods - this may not be "worldshaking" LBN, but it's interesting to see how UK police treat protests.

"Environmental activists have attempted to install a solar panel on the roof of John Prescott's home in protest at the government's record on energy.

Up to 20 Greenpeace campaigners climbed on to the roof of the deputy prime minister's home in Hull on Tuesday. A spokesman said the panels were being left as a present, along with roof insulation and low-energy light bulbs.

Insp Mike Sansom said: "They are carrying out a non-violent protest and we are monitoring the situation."...

One of the protesters...Laura Yates...said they were challenged by armed police, but officers did not stop them once they were told it was a peaceful protest."

Gotta love their sense of humour!

1. An almost Pythonesque protest
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 05:24 AM by muriel_volestrangler

Ximinez (angrily hurling away the cushions) Hm! She is made of harder stuff! Cardinal Fang - fetch...the comfy chair!
Another loud jarring chord. Zoom in on Fang's horrified face.
Fang The comfy chair?
Fang pushes in a comfy chair - a really plush one.
Ximinez So you think you are strong because you can survive the soft cushions. Well, we shall see. Biggles! Put her in the Comfy Chair!
(Biggles roughly push her into the comfy chair)
Now. You will stay in the Comfy Chair until lunch time, with only a cup of coffee at eleven... (to Biggles) Is that really all it is?
Biggles Why, yes lord.
Ximinez I see. I suppose we make it worse by shouting a lot, do we? Confess, woman. Confess! Confess! Confess! Confess!
Biggles I confess!
Ximinez Not you!

3. Pity he wasn't there
He shot up dramatically in my estimation after his little brawl in the last election. He is possibly my favourite cabinet minister just for the sheer unspinnableness and the fun too.
