Judy Woodruff Leaving CNN |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 12:18 PM by doxieone
FLASH: JUDY WOODRUFF LEAVES CNN This message was just sent on CNN's internal messaging system: "To my colleagues and friends at CNN: I've decided to leave daily journalism after 30 years, 12 of them at this network. I've had challenging and exciting opportunities, been supported by an amazing and talented group of people, and made lifelong friends. I wish them the very best. I'm discussing several long-form projects in television. I'll also teach, do some writing and be an occasional consultant and contributor to CNN. To all of you at CNN who have been so wonderful to me, I can't begin to thank you adequately. But thank you. We will stay in touch and we'll always have memories of good journalism, good times and a few laughs together." http://mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

77. You know something? I think this is spot on. |
|
I think she took that seriously. Especially since her little boy (or kids? Didn't know she had more than just a son - well, then, that makes it even worse what duhbya did IN A DRUNKEN RAGE) was at table in that restaurant with his mom and dad and heard that Texas shit-spew up close 'n' personal.
I dunno - I might feel a little frozen with fear myself if that had happened to me in public in front of my school-age children, by someone THAT angry, THAT obscene, and THAT well-connected. It's someting I wouldn't forget, either.
FUCKER. george is a FUCKER. Maybe she'll join the team out of self-preservation. Moms can be driven to some radical things when they think their kids are endangered...
Not that I'm trying to excuse it. Or her. She caved. And never stopped caving. When we could have used a clear-eyed, courageous voice of truth to cut through the lies and the bullshit. She had credibility at one time. That's all gone. Just another victim of the bush hit-n-run, smash-n-grab gang. EVERYONE they touch comes to some bad end.

Her sick, bashing lead in the Democratic debate was horrific. Her constant use of the "Some say" asinine lead-in has been a trailblazing move for the Bush-mewling maggots at Fox. She's a cheap whore of an alleged journalist, and no one will remember her when she's gone.

is she leaving before any $#^* hits the roof? She has been shilling for the bush boy all along. I wonder if she was one of those paid to SPREAD his FREEDOM propaganda and i wonder if anyone has got a whiff of that and she is leaving before it explodes.
i wonder if her conscience has begun to bother her ... knowing that she is spewing propaganda and truth be damned.
i wonder if the bush/rovian white house went too far in pushing her buttons... i don't really know what got into judy woof-woof... but i feel sorry for whoever might happen to take any classess under her. they'll get a lot of inflated ego and very little truth to power journalism learning.
judy woof-woof wants to hit the speech trail...or the respected tutorial one... poor judy woof-woof what emptiness of real news accompanies thy name.

Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 01:14 PM by siliconefreak
Not that I'm a fan of Chris Matthews or believe that his style is "fair and balanced", but compare his show to Inside Politics. Which is more interesting and informative? Who asks tougher questions? It's no contest, in my opinion. Hardball is much better overall.
I do think that Woodruff is a good writer, but she doesn't belong on broadcast television.

73. MY FIRST THOUGHT--CBS!!!!!!!!! |
|
Which network is looking for an anchor with bona fides and gravitas? Which network isn't afraid of breaking paradigms? Judy is not so bad, she is constrained. She and her husband and their four year old son were treated to an earful courtesy of the chimp, who called her husband a fucking son of a bitch and threatened him. She has no love for this administration, she has bills to pay. Don't blame the whore, blame the johns who pay her and tell her what to do.... In early April 1986, for instance, George W. was miffed at a prediction by the Wall Street Journal's Al Hunt that Jack Kemp -- not Vice President Bush -- would win the GOP nomination in 1988. At a Dallas restaurant, Bush spotted Hunt having dinner with his wife, Judy Woodruff, and their four-year-old son.
Bush stormed up to the table and started cursing out Hunt. "You son of a bitch," Bush yelled. "I saw what you wrote. We're not going to forget this."
Bush supporters have excused the governor's behavior that occurred before his 40th birthday on the grounds that Bush was still drinking heavily in those days. http://www.consortiumnews.com/1999/100599a1.html

She left journalism years ago, who is she kidding? I always held a high amount of blame for the Dean Scream debacle because I was still watching CNN at that point, and that old bag rang him out to dry.
Is she going to go work for private sector journalism? hahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

that she is a worthless bitch. It's fairly certain to anyone who watched her do political reporting that A) she had less talent than a blowhole and B) she was a republican. People over at free republic are actually bashing her as a liberal. Now her husband does have some talent but he unfortunately writes for the p.o.s. wall street journal and is a self proclaimed "liberal republican". It's nice to see him smack some sense into dumbasses like Crypt Keeper Novak and Cruella D'Obeirne on capital gang. Talk about contradictory. And someone already pointed out the incident with dubya da dumbass at a restaurant in 1988. I have no idea why the hell her political views are what they are, given her life experience and the evidence, the insertion of conservative media clearly point to a dilution of intelligence in press pools.
It was incredibly unprofessional of her to twirl her heels around during interviews and speaking, you could always see it when you watched IP. She wasnt even hot, you could see the wrinkles on her neck, even if she somehow found a way to smooth her face out. It's kind of pointless to pick on her though. She is part of a larger part in political journalism, where there is a need to balance a truth with a conservative lie. It handicaps the knowledge of the public and the reasoning of the entire civilized world. Im definitely happy to see her go but let's see how great her replacement is before we start celebrating her much needed departure from the field of journalism.

103. She's such a loyal, high profile mouthpiece it makes you wonder why |
|
She's got credibility from long term association with CNN, and she's a real insider. High quality water-carrier, tho she lays it on a bit thick.
I wonder what's really going on here. Press secretary to wipe up after McClellan's mess? GOP consultant for 2006? Health problem?
I agree with others here suggesting there's more to this than meets the eye.

106. You know Judy, if you ever need a job you might have one with guess who.. |
|
You might have a job with the corrupt, greedy bigot infested Council of National Policy to go mess up other governments and media elsewhere you know, you never can tell! http://tinyurl.com/dcyyl"In addition, Mr. Abramoff had lobbying contracts with the textile industry trade group there. Supportive columnists with The Saipan Tribune, owned by the owner of the largest garment business in the commonwealth, have said he is a star in Washington because of his prowess in deflecting Congressional efforts to tighten labor laws.
Mr. Abramoff's biggest year, according to the audit, was 1997, when Preston Gates earned $3.1 million from the commonwealth. Around that time, the commonwealth hired David Lapin. The Lapin brothers are from South Africa and met Mr. Abramoff on one of his trips there. Mr. Abramoff later helped Daniel Lapin found Toward Tradition, a Seattle group that describes itself as working "against anti-religion bigotry," and remains a board member.
In a 2002 interview with The New York Times, Mr. Abramoff said he first met Mr. DeLay through Daniel Lapin, who would meet frequently with members of Congress to press conservative causes.
Pam Brown, the attorney general for the Marianas, said Thursday that the government had been unable to determine what work David Lapin had done.
"We haven't been able to figure out what the deliverables were," Ms. Brown said. "He was tasked with providing some sort of ethical parameters for government work. That's all I know at this point. We're more amazed at the cost."
A woman answering the phone at Strategic Business Ethics in California, where Mr. Lapin is chief executive, said Mr. Lapin could not be reached for comment because of the Passover holidays.
Mr. DeLay, whose foreign travel arranged by lobbyists has drawn criticism in Congress for possible ethics violations, visited the Marianas in 1998 with his wife and daughter and three aides. Upon his return, he declared dead a bill that Democrats had hoped to pass raising wages and controlling immigration in the Marianas.
In 1999, Mr. DeLay's former chief of staff, Edwin Buckham, and his former spokesman, Michael Scanlon, both of whom later worked with Mr. Abramoff in his lobbying firm, visited the islands to persuade two local lawmakers to change their votes for speaker of the islands' House of Representatives. The DeLay associates wanted the two legislators to support the candidate of the garment industry, Ben Fitial, who was close to Mr. Abramoff, and promised that federal contracts to the islands would follow if they did.
Mr. Buckham later represented Enron in its bid to build an energy plant in the Northern Marianas, and when Enron lost to a Japanese concern, Mr. DeLay worked to get the bidding reopened.
"For years, Mr. Abramoff lobbied to protect a Marianas industry that exploited tens of thousands of women workers, many of whom were channeled into the island sex trade," said Representative George Miller, the California Democrat who called for the investigation of Mr. Abramoff's work in the Marianas.
He noted the audits and added that newspapers on the islands had reported this week that Mr. Fitial admitted he had won the speakership because of the work by Mr. DeLay's associates. "Given the evidence in the public reports, it's long past time for Congress to investigate allegations of undue influence and corruption," Mr. Miller said."After all, look what happened with Jack Abramoff. I think the Council needs a new fresh woman to its cause!!! Who knows, maybe you can help everybody corrupt the voting process and make millions of dollars off of fraud too, they're always looking to hire an extra racketeer agent.  }( }(
