Purported al-Zarqawi
tape vows more attacks

Terror leader allegedly vows not
to let Bush enjoy 'peace of mind'

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - A purported audio tape from al-Qaida’s leader in Iraq has called for more suicide attacks on U.S. forces and vowed not to let President Bush enjoy “peace of mind,” according to a Web posting on Friday.

The speaker, who made a reference that suggested the tape was recorded in late March, identified himself as Jordanian Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and said that the holy war, or jihad, was still being waged vigorously two years after the U.S. invasion.

“We promise God that the dog ... Bush will not enjoy peace of mind and that his army will not have a good life as long as our hearts are beating,” the speaker said. “We are coming.”

It was not possible to verify the authenticity of the tape, which was posted on a Web site used by Islamist militants. At one point, the speaker referred to a newspaper article as being published on March 19 and described that as “the current month”.

4. I was wondering where Zaq and Ossie were lately. Apparently Zaq's
taken over Ossie's tape concession and Ossie is just lying low (but according to the word on the street is not dead).

5. Did we ever get tapes of various villains threatening us
before George W. Bush? I don't think so. I think his PNACkers thought it all up and cranked out bogus tapes. Since most of us don't speak their languages, and would NOT recognize their voices, we have to simply take Bush's administration's word for it. We know how honest THEY are.

We've been getting these recorded threats as regularly as clockwork.
Why didn't they send any threats to Bill Clinton? Why not any menacing images interecepted by Bill Clinton's administration, in which they discussed how they're going to mop up the floor with us?

6. Even on Air America
much of the terror methods of "Zorro" are uncritically equated with homegrown Iraqi resistance. His group activities, heavy on Al Qaeda suicide methods is not the same as armed Iraqi resistance, actual or potential. The only cross linkage is in recruiting- if any, but I suspect those newbies are the ones given the strap on bombs.

It is hard to say that as a propaganda tool against dissenters here whether he is more useful alive and kicking than the advantages in stopping him killing people at will. Probably a lack of will at the top in any case.

7. Oddly, tape also said that he hates us for Social Security privatization,
and does not want Americans to privatize their Social Security system.
