U.S.-led forces recover letter believed for al-Zarqawi
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) U.S.-led forces have recovered a letter they believe was addressed to Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi complaining about low morale among his followers and the incompetence of leaders in his terror network, the military said Tuesday.

The letter was seized during an April 28 raid in Baghdad, which also yielded an undated document listing target information and sketch maps for kidnappings and bombings, the statement said.

The next letter will state that he's getting out of the terror business and will retire in Cuba.

Joseph Goebbels's followers planted this BS story. He is sure proud.

4. The guy's mail is always being picked up by someone. But they just
can't find the guy himself. Maybe they should just look at the address on the envelope. <sarcasm for those who couldn't tell>.

You'd think we'd be able to catch this guy since we know how to get ahold of all his mail, wouldn't you? He has to read the American press to get his messages.

12. Dear Sheik
Thank you for your wonderful gift. The sweater fits nicely.

However, I'm sad to report that things are not going well at my end. Moral is at an all time low. The boys and I are a little peeved at you for not sending the new PSP's like you promised. It would have nice break from all the jihad talk all the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the cause. Go Jihad!

We are having recruiting problems as well. We are being barred from the local high schools. I just don't get it. Doesn't anyone want to blow themselves up anymore?

Also, please stop sending every tom dick and harry here who thinks they can lead an attack. Just the other day, the last guy you sent, killed himself. No not a suicide attack, but he pointed a rocket the wrong way and well, you can fill in the rest.

At the end of the letter I have included the list you wanted for list of hostages we have.

You will also find a map of the target area, excuse the crayon, we blew up all of the pens.

Goooooooooooo Jihad!
Love and kisses,
Abu

P.S. here is the hostage list

1 pound carrots

1 pound sliced onion

1 pkg frozen peas

1 can of chicken broth

pinch of salt to taste.

16. I'd love to see the poll question
that prompted this nonsense being floated. Hmmm... Two weeks ago they had Zarqawi jumping out of a moving cab without his laptop to escape our intrepid troopses. (Which did beg the question of how he managed that feat on one leg!) Last week they were floating booga-booga terrah plots supposedly fresh from his laptop. This week his forces are falling apart. Hmmm ... * has been polling well on the terrorism question only, while everything else is in the dumpster. Why do I get the feeling that his numbers have suddenly started dropping on his handling of the War on Terra too?

17. Oh give me a break
I understand that psychological warfare is an integral part of the 21st century battlefield and all that, but are they really not capable of doing better than this? With $450 billion a year? It should at least be possible to produce a fake Zarqawi videotape, just to give the networks something juicy in between the Jackson trial and the runaway bride.

26. A bit more detail...this letter could have been to ANYONE!!
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050503/ts_nm/iraq_zarqawi_dc

In a statement on Tuesday, the U.S. military said unnamed analysts had determined the letter, addressed to "the Sheikh," was intended for Zarqawi because "many of his close followers refer to him as 'the Sheikh."'

"Sheikh" is a very common form of address in Arabic that can either refer to a tribal elder or a religious authority.

The U.S. military said the letter, dated April 27th, praises the sheikh for being "a thorn in the mouth of the Americans," but also addresses low morale among Zarqawi's followers and weakening support for Jihad, or Holy war.

<...>

However, it was not clear from the translation of the letter provided that the writer was admonishing the person he was writing to.

27. Check out this paragraph from another source...
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/n/a/2005/05/03/international/i094444D88.DTL

--The U.S. military has claimed similar finds in the past. In February last year, the military released a letter it claimed was written by al-Zarqawi complaining that if the insurgency failed to prevent the handover of sovereignty, "then there will be no choice but to pack our bags and move to another land where we can once again carry our banner." Postings on a number of Internet Web sites known for their militant content questioned the authenticity of the document.--

The fake handover took place and they moved out of Iraq. So, what new land did al-Zarqawi and his low morale followers move to again?

Shame on those posters who question the authenticity of this piece of Goebbels's propaganda.

29. It's amazing that this story gets top billing
when it has no factual basis at all, no authentication, no nothing except what somebody in the Army says it is. In the meantime, we have corroborated minutes from a secret meeting within the British government quoting top level ministers who essentially say that justification for the war was being fabricated in mid 2002, and this gets no play at all in the US MSM. Unbelievable.
