Angels bill clears Assembly panel
The team would have to declare that it's not in Los Angeles.

By HANH KIM QUACH
The Orange County Register

The Los Angeles Angels would have to tell the team's fans that it's really not in Los Angeles under legislation that cleared an Assembly committee this morning.

AB1041, by Assemblyman Tom Umberg, D-Anaheim, would establish the Truth in Sports Advertising Act.

"If someone sold orange juice and it had no juice, you've got to tell consumers, 'By the way, there's no juice in this product.' This produce (the Los Angeles Angels) contains no Los Angeles, and people should be so informed," Umberg told committee members.

The bill, which requires that a team's location to be printed on game tickets, passed on an 8-0 vote and will head to the full Assembly.

2. Disneyland... er, Anaheim about 35 miles south of LA
They used to be called the Anaheim Angels, and their owner decided to change the name to the Los Angeles Angels (kinda redundant..) which did not make the Dodgers happy, either.

3. Los Angeles Angels sounds dumb, anyway
I wonder if other areas will try that. The Washinton Redskins would have to be called the Laurel(MD)Redskins (If I remember correctly, that is where they are located.)

4. Their original name was the Los Angeles Angels
Then they were the California Angels, then Anaheim Angels, now this confusing long name of the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, or something like that.
They change names like some people change shoes.

10. How about changing their name to "Orange County Angels?"
I used to watch them before they were the "Anaheim Angels," but then, I used to watch the "Los Angeles Dodgers" too!

And the "Los Angeles Rams" and the "Los Angeles Lakers"

What ever happened to these teams?

11. Why.Does.This.Matter?
This just contributes to the larger tone of discourse today.

My team's better than your team.

I root for the home team

My ..... uh ...... 'whatever' is bigger than yours.

Yeah, yeah, I know ... LA's all pissed cuz they moved down the street.

So they use the political system to write this pissy piece of shit legislation?

Come on people ... there are *real* issues out there ... yanno?

14. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....
Although, since opening day none of the new Angels merchandising or advertising has said "Los Angeles Of Anaheim", it just says "Angels Baseball".

But this is too freaking funny, especially coming from a long time Angels fan.
