Poll Shows Increased Doubts About Iraq War, Bush
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Most Americans now believe the Iraq (news - web sites) war was not worth it, according to CBS News/New York Times poll released on Thursday which showed a sharp fall in public confidence in President Bush (news - web sites)'s ability to handle foreign and economic policy issues.

The poll found new lows for Bush's foreign policy performance, which garnered just a 44 percent approval rating. Among respondents, 50 percent lacked confidence in his ability to handle an international crisis and 53 percent said they now believed the Iraq war was not worth it.

Bush's overall job approval rating was just above 50 percent, almost back to the level before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and down sharply from his 89 percent approval rating after the attacks, the poll said.

"Landing on the carrier, declaring the conflict over, this Romanesque sort of victory parade, certainly did raise the stakes," historian James T. Smith told CBS News. "And now those expectations are falling because people are seeing that the Iraq situation is not going according to plan."

1. looks like it's time for bushco to arrange for another terrah attack.
seems to be the only way he's going to get back up in those numbers... fear factory. personally, i've gotten a bit numb... i wonder if bushco can cook up something to inspire some REAL fear...

4. It's about time! I have really lost respect for Americans though
If the war had gone well, they would support the immoral invasion against a defenseless country 100%.

5. I still have my Suspicions there MAY be WMD's in Iraq -
and here's my reasoning -

IF there are WMD's the most logical place would for them to be in an underground bunker - ( I know - DUH - right ?)

Bear with me -

I have seen old video coverage of the INSIDE of some of the Bunker Complexes underneath Baghdad - which INCLUDES an underground highway at least 12 kliks long whhich runs from the Airport to Baghdad -and wide enough for two-way traffic, and ONE of the exits/entrances is at the Sadaam/Baghdad airport -

There was a very brief "blurb" that the Armed Forces had discovered this entrance at the Airport very early in the invasion - and then NOTHING!!!

So how come we have heard no reports of these underground bunkers/barracks and highways ??

Could it be possible that the US found WMD's MONTHS ago - and decided not to "find" them until around election time ???

or - the USA has planted some WMD's in the meantime

- and again - "find" them around election time ???

NOT that the WH would be that devious ?(sarcasm ON)

Something to ponder

- and SCARY too

- hmmm

6. Something to ponder - the Lost Dutchman's Mine
How about those tunnels & bunkers not existing at all?

Perhaps thats why you don't hear about then anymore.

11. If there were WMDs they would have been used on our troops
Meanwhile, North Korea is building :nuke::nuke:
and we no longer have any way to tell what they are doing with them
until one goes off here, that is.

That would certainly be pretext enough for Patriot II, martial law, and no more elections.

The CIA can no longer prevent the BFEE from LIHOP/MIHOP.
This, not mere revenge, may be their real reason for outing Ms. Plame.
:scared:

8. The most logical course
The most logical time politically for Bush* to put the WMD on display would have been "mission accomplished" time.

At that point, it would have been possible for him to retain the 60-70 percent approval he had at the time. He was almost untouchable by the media at that point. Note, that the media has become more aggressive as his numbers dropped.

I don't believe Rove would let his client take this much of a beating in the press if he had a storyline that would stop it.
