Embattled Limbaugh Facing Drug Probe (AP)
http://www.newsday.com/business/ny-limbaugh1003,0,3444493.story?coll=ny-business-headlines

Conservative talk show superstar Rush Limbaugh, a longtime lightning rod for controversy, found the voltage turned way up Thursday as he responded to separate furors involving his alleged abuse of addictive painkillers and his remarks about a black quarterback on an ESPN show.

A law enforcement source confirmed that Limbaugh has been implicated in an ongoing drug-ring investigation but said the radio and TV personality is not a principal target of the Florida probe, which is focusing on drug dealers and which has led to several arrests.

The source also confirmed a National Enquirer report that Limbaugh's former housekeeper Wilma Cline told prosecutors that over a period of more than four years she illegally supplied him with thousands of painkillers, including at times more than 30 pills per day of the highly potent drug OxyContin. Limbaugh had twice gone through detoxification treatment in New York, according to that report.

But Limbaugh Thursday denied knowledge of the probe. "I am unaware of any investigation by any authorities involving me," Limbaugh said in a statement. "No governmental representative has contacted me directly or indirectly. If my assistance is required in the future, I will, of course, cooperate fully."

Whether Limbaugh, 52, faces any prosecution could depend partly on the degree of that cooperation and the nature of the information he provides, the law enforcement source said.

just posting this because the AP picked it up and has more detail regarding criminal charges - also will not discuss National Enquirer or Drudge links - do not accept them as valid (this is jmho)

1. I just looked at the picture...
with that article. He looks old. He's approximately the same age as me, and while I am not considered the very flower of masculine beauty, I sure don't look as bad as him. He looks ancient.

2. now this is just a weird observation on my part, but
something I noticed many years ago was that the people that I knew for certain were really conservative - well even if they were the same age as I am - they attempted to make themselves appear older - they didn't seem to understand that you get there anyway - and it took me years to understand that they thought it was the way to be -

to look like you were in your 40s in your 30s (eeeekkk!) - me? I wanted to look like I was 23 forever (oh well - it's been a while since I had any claim to that number :)

I doubt, even with addiction issues, Limbaugh would allow these folks in his house.

3. I think Limbaugh should send a stool sample to Ken Starr
so he can examine it for evidence of wrong-doing.

4. Here's the great thing about oxycontin abuse
I mean, it's not just a "victimless crime," is it? If he's getting the stuff from drug dealers rather than a Dr Feelgood prescription, well, where do the dealers get it? Here in the northeast we had quite the wave of violent robberies of pharmacies by guys trying to steal this shit. I still frequently see signs on drugstore doors, right where you can't miss it if you're an armed robber, "No oxycontin sold here!"

I mean, in a way it's worse than heroin in that regard--heroin dealers knocking off other heroin dealers isn't pretty, but at least you figure they know that goes with the territory. But pharmacists getting knocked off for their oxycontin supplies, that's a whole different proposition isn't it.

And that's the kind of trade Rush is supporting, the fat, anal-cyst-afflicted hypocrite.

6. Which is still another good reason why drugs
shouldn't be illegal. Nearly all of our drug-related problems are caused by drug prohibition laws.

Wait, wait, with the "well, we can't (I mean shouldn't) allow people to just self-medicate". Why?

8. More grist for his mill
The big crybaby will play this for all it's worth. Already a "victim" of liberals for his racist ESPN gibe, now he'll cast himself as a double victim. Oh, the agonies of being a rich white male prophet...

something's missing here. Limbaugh is denying knowledge of the investigation, but he's not denying that he's an oxy addict?

Anybody know for sure? I thought I read that somewhere.
