Let's all move there, 'eh? We're outsourcing our democracy over there anyway. Garden spot of the New American Century Middle East. I'm personally going for the flowers and the bon-bons. See how we're gaining the upper hand over all those icky swarthy-skinned males who hate us for our freedoms?

Although Bush claims to savor the "bring it on" experience. Not that he has to do any of the actual experiencing.

34. families, who took refuge in the former president Saddam Hussein's
Edited on Tue May-10-05 12:10 PM by dArKeR
A US soldier lights a cigarette as an old Iraqi woman sits on the ground inside a former military compound at al-Dora district south of Baghdad yesterday. More than 70 displaced families, who took refuge in the former president Saddam Hussein's army military compound, refused an offer of money from the US army in exchange for leaving. Thousands of Iraqis, who were evicted from their homes by post-war rent hikes, live among of the ruins of devastated military compounds across the war-torn capital.

42. Whoa! Gov. Al-Mahalawi used to be Saddam's boy....
Now he is a plain old collaborator. And probably a dead one.

~snip~

Al-Mahalawi only recently became governor after tribal leaders forced out his predecessor, Fassal Raikan al-Gout al-Namrawi, who narrowly escaped a roadside bombing in February. Al-Mahalawi, who is originally from Qaim, served as mayor of the town under Saddam Hussein.
