Five killed, seven injured in Karachi attack

At least five Shiite Moslems were killed and seven others injured when unknown gunmen opened fire on a bus in western Karachi, police said. “The victims were going for Friday prayers when attacked,” deputy inspector general of police Karachi Tariq Jamil said. The police chief said it was a sectarian killing.

“The two attackers were riding on a motorbike, opened fire on their passenger bus as they were going for Friday prayers,” he said. ”Five people were killed on the spot while seven were injured. Three of them are in a serious condition,” he added.

The victims were employees of the Space and Upper Atmospheric Research Organisation (SUPARCO).
