Parts of jet engine fall in neighborhood
Parts of jet engine fall in neighborhood

DANVILLE – Several pieces from a FedEx Corp. cargo plane dropped from the sky into a neighborhood in this San Francisco Bay Area suburb Monday night, authorities said.

Federal aviation officials said yesterday three pieces fell to the ground about 8 p.m., landing in empty yards. The FedEx crew, flying from Oakland to Dallas, didn't know it had lost the parts from around an engine until the plane landed safely in Texas, officials said. No injuries were reported.

1. Maintenance isn't
what it used to be, a lot is being outsourced.

4. No
maintnenance has been outsourced to places like Guatemala, believe it or not. Chinese making sub-standard parts (or parts that are not quality controlled and this for even military aircraft that are being installed). And at this point is the American workforce up to par? The oldies but goodies are retiring or being fired and newbies don't have oldies to learn from.

8. I'm sure this is nothing....
I mean, it's not like now that airline employees - from the pilots down to the mechanics - have had their pensions cancelled that they'll take less care and concern with their jobs, right?

Right?
